Looks like some vertical trim (fins) is missing. They may have to use the window-washing equipment in order to install the trim. In this older, close-up photo you can see that the upper cladding is missing the chrome fins and there are black things in the corners of the panes:

the 135m fountain jet in Canberra Australia
the one planned for Burj Dubai will be higher.
image hosted on flickr

some facts>
The water jet is powered by two 560 kilowatt electric motors driving four stage centrifugal pumps capable of pumping up to 250 litres per second against a head of 183 meters. The water velocity at the water nozzle is 260 km/h. While running both pumps simultaneously the main jet throws approximately six tons of water into the air at any instant, reaching a maximum height of 147 metres. Alternatively the jet can be run on a single pump reaching a lower height of 110 metres. During special occasions it can be illuminated, often with coloured lights.

Yes, I mentioned it before. This is what i wanted to explain. Does they use diffrent material for cladding? Or is the upper part of the mechanical floor cladding a little further on then the rest of the mech floor cladding?

Thnx Cul, for the information about the fountain - amazing when the fountain at BD is larger

Well, it's always good to have a variety of opinions in the forum. And yours is rather unique here - most skyscraper fans seem to love the design of the tower (like I do, too). And don't forget that a u/c building can't match with the result when all is finished.

Btw. good idea to create a fountain at the BD site! Although it will look relatively small beneath the Burj, if it won't have the size of King Fahd's Fountain in Jeddah with a maximum height of 312m...

edit: Now I see Old Town Resident's new shots... and, if I'm not mistaken, that the next part of cladding has started around lev 139.

Cullwulla, In the pic below you can see where they are trenching for the new fountain area which is diectly in front of the Palace Hotel, Burj Park V ihas been credited with having some of the best views. They are in the process of digging up the concrete lined trench that is adjacent to the mall so hell knows what will happen there as this looked a completed area and would only be a deeper part of the lake if not used for a fountain.

OTR, that on the right covered with tents is Meat & Co SA Grill restaurant, right? At night should be great views over the Burj from there. (well, actually better from the Argentinian one, but the prices ... )
