Cheaper accommodations would be nice. Is there a Motel 6 in Dubai that charges $39/night or an Econolodge?

Clean , tidy safe and cheap.....what else do you need for budget accomodation ?

Yes no alcohol rule here.....it is right next door to the local mosque after all.

(if you are looking for a reason to the current bad weather.....blame me.....I always bring it from the UK wherever I go... :P )
The bad weather was down to seeding the clouds to make rain. They will do the same on Wednesday so expect more rain then.

if that is true then I just love the sci-fi scenario that dubai is presenting the world

if not
still cool

Looking at old pics I realize how intesivly the cladding has progressed, I know the number of panels gets less after every tier but I think it is so much cooler to be installing "few" cladding units in ~500 meters rather than loads of it at under 300

great to see imre back
but still the other contributers have done a terrific job in your absence
cheers!

yep, that is it! I think the floor range is somewhere in the 30's..

I believe it was built in 1979.. imagine how almost every single tower to the right of the wtc was built "since" that date! And that is just the SZR area alone.

Hi all.

Flickr - thibautdelestre- 08 04 23

So we must have passed 40,000,000 manhours on this thing by now - wow and over 7000 workers - wow again.

Also probably within a week for the first column of the first section of tier 19 and the tallest manmade structure in history at 649.7 m. from grade (to the top of the column). The first section of tier 19 will have a terrace facing North (tier 18 roof or setback ).

It will be interesting to see the next 3 setbacks as the following 3 face the same direction - namely 0, 120, and 240 degrees. Up untill now the following round of 3 have been 60 degrees different from the previous 3 since tier 12.

So cool to be able to "watch" this structure being built. Thanks to all the contributors.

I'm interested to see exactly from where they are going to take the height mark from. On the photo with the white truck, the building looks like it is on a man made podium with the roadway or rampway going down to Dubai municipality street level. It looks like Skytower was right. I feel BD has already surpassed the Warsaw Radio Mast. The 643m height looks like an Emaar formality.

I'm waiting for the final measurement as CTBUH will recognize and to see exactly from where on the bottom it will be taken from.

With most of the cladding over the lower floors complete wouldnt it become uncomfortably hot within those enclosed floors during the day? Does anyone know if there are any functioning ventilation or airconditioning systems yet?
