Thanks HM, spot on as ever.

What is that lake in the background? Is it natural or man-made and where is all that water in the desert coming from?

Nice update Skymyhusband and it looks like there is a lot of work to be done on the ground.

So let me get this straight because I'm new here. Only the building itself is relevant, not the people who are building it? Maybe in some of these photos we should photoshop out the construction workers in the shot so we can just pretend the Burj is building itself.

Wo'ho! I haven't checked this thread since the beginning of April. They've done so much since that It seems to be almost T/O and the cladding... geez. Now I finally can picture the tower IRL. The height is of course something I cannot understand, but the design makes sense I'm sure this tower looks stunning when u stand next to it. It's a shame I haven't got anything to compare this to. Or how can I stand next to a 86-meter-high residential tower, and think BD is more than 8 times higher?

I think a fisheye lens captures the space of the picture most realistic way. When you look at wide angle picture you feel like you "are in the picture". That crane picture from the top of the Burj Dubai is a good example. It really looks like you are over 600 m over the street level.

Cul, you keep referring to the height as 819 meters when you know very well that the figure can be "true" only if the beacon light on top will be considered, which is not the case in real life, let alone in a model.

The structure is 818 meters.
