Do you really think dd-mm-yr is the only date format out there ?

It's not that hard to look at the format and figure it out.

I use that format to name all my pics so they are all in order.

Need order with 17,500 pics - and that's just the Burj.

Personally, I was planning to book a flight to Dubai for February to see the completed Burj and other wonders, something that was made much easier for me to do when, a few months ago, Emirates Airelines started up non-stop flights from Toronto to Dubai. But upon further investigation, I discovered that all three of the prescription drugs that I'm on are on the Dubai banned list -- including an anti-infammatory that I have to take periodically when I get a joint flareup. Since I would prefer not to risk the chance of developing a familiarity with the inside architecture of the Dubai jail system, I guess I will continue to have to admire from afar.

That's an awesome video, makes you feel good.
Also that pic in post "7632" Reminds me of the city in Blade Runner: they just need a few more towers the height of BD and some flames firing out the tops!

Anyway, just took a look at Imres massive Flickr update, so for those img. hungry, go there!!!

@ fury, man I was thinking the same, those poor people that bought some space at the lower floors, now only having concrete railway blocking all their view, maaaaan, will they get some compensation??

Wow... there has been much progress since the last time I visited the site. The photo is incredible, it does look a little bit sci-fi. I'll be sure to check back in more regularly.

Why all dubai looks like dirty, I mean, the most of the pictures of the building doesn't have a good visibility, looks like air pollution, or sand, or dust or something in the air. Is this due to the desert???

Hi all.

Hey Tom - on your next trip there you should pay for a ticket for me as I can't afford it - and don't call me baby ...

Here is a pic from Imre taken from the North side - not many from anyone from this side. I have a couple of points to discuss.

1 - I noticed a while ago the wings we can see on level 155 Mezz. have big slots on 2 sections. Also the sides we can see are the only sides that have wings on this level - they are not completed on any other sides. It will be interesting to see how they clad in those areas. I don't think they will pour the wings later but who knows. Otherwise the may use brackets that stick out like a wing for attaching the cladding. As for the slots I'm not sure.

2 - I never noticed untill now that the wings on level 156 are steel in the 2 sections we can see in the photo and concrete on all the other sides. I'm thinking the boarding is/was used as walkways? The 2 steel sections are on the side that is the terrace for level 156 but I don't see any reason for them to not be concrete like all the other sides. This is also the same side as the slotted level 155 Mezz. wings. Perhaps the 2 anomalies are related.

We can see in this shot in Imres' update the terrace on the first section of tier 19 facing North. Also because this is the first terrace with a smaller wing facing the same direction we can see the column sticking out some onto the terrace. The next 2 terraces will follow suit.

It is gonna get very interesting this summer watching this thing grow and with the spire/pinnacle jacking proceedure.

It's one big construction site in the middle of a dessert. What else do you expect? I think the condition become much better in the coming 5 years as many buildings will be finished by than and more greenery has been planted.
