That doesnt make sense since we are talking about delaying the project for 6 entire months....

They are going higher than the current projected 818m~ height and that is why to them delaying another 6 months is worth it...

Once again, the delay does not mean they are going higher then 818 meters!

That article mentioned about the final height... not the final floor count

Also if what you said was the case den its not worth it to extend another floor...

Extended wait for Burj Dubai

Burj Dubai will not be ready until at least September next year – a delay of nine months.

Construction work Burj Dubai began in 2004 and was to be completed in December this year. However, that date has been pushed back to maintain the highest quality and to upgrade the interior design that was originally created in 2004, said Mohamed Ali Alabbar, Chairman of Emaar.

"We are expecting it to be ready by August or September next year. What matters for us is the quality and not the date," he said.

Most recently, work on Burj Dubai was halted for 18 days last month due to high winds, according to senior officials on the site. And last year, a two-week strike by 40,000 labourers of Arabtec, one of the construction companies working on the project, also delayed work.

In a statement yesterday, Emaar said the project will be completed by September 2009. "The luxury finishes that were decided on in 2004 is now being replaced by upgraded finishes.

"World-class designers were brought in from California and SOM to revise the interior design, and accordingly all apartments are being upgraded following a redesign process that took two to three months.
Speaking to Emirates Business, Fred Durie, executive director – development, Emaar, said construction of all livable floors of Burj Dubai is complete. "Work is progressing on two communication floors. The final height of the tower will, however, be revealed only by the chairman," said Durie.

The Burj Dubai currently stands at more than 630 metres and, according to Durie, it will be substantially higher.

they need to get the height right. where way over 630m

What???

I gave website where it states that additional floors could be added to BD. And the article was about floor count and not the final height, got it other way round.

good guess. stainless steel.

heres a repost of pinnacle detail
as you can see tier24 or lev198 is highest level you can get to without climbing up inside ladder inside pinnacle.
You can access tier roofs tier 25,26 and 27 through pinnacle ladder.

So my question is-Would you classify tier24 as roof?

How long will it take to climb up a nearly 100m ladder???
I sometimes walk the stairs to the top floor of an about 60m high building... and thats really exhausting... but a ladder?!
And i guess there wont be any air conditioning inside that thing so maybe each time a person climbs up he'll die from exhaustion . They only have to perform some studies weather that person might be able to maintain the beacon and throw down the skeleton of his predecessor an instant before he collapses

PS... Here not far from my place there is a power plant with a chimney... ok... it's height is about 177 meter in total... but this picture just shows some of the upper part.... do you see that external ladder??? Just unbelievable to climb up... also unbelievable for me for the inside ladder of the burj
