Sure, with imagination, a stick could be a model of Burj Dubai . Its still a stick though. They should hire culwulla, he makes models and diagrams, correct? Thats something.

No, they know it will be taller than 700m and they write it, they even mention most people believe it will be 818m. It is not them saying that there is a height increase but the Emaar CEO. The problem is, it is not clear which height increase he is talking about, most probably he is talking about the height increase which everybody knows for years just to find an excuse for the delay, but again, it is not clear in his words. You might believe it will be 818m, (and i also believe it will be 818m) but you cannot blame the media just because they wrote what they heard from the CEO.

It won't.

Well, Burj is rapidly thinning up from this angle it looks really thin. I don't really have a point but just to comment. (How far deep into conrete is the steel floor structure rooted into?)

It is thin, its coming nearer and nearer the spire.

So... is the hyped height increase we have all heard about the one from 818 meters to 819 meters? WOW .

As far as I remember, i saw in some plans that steel is rooted in levels 155 and 155M, thats 6.4m into concrete. Not very much compared to the whole steel structure

MI6 warns of terror attack on Dubai

Quote:
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office has raised the level of threat faced by the United Arab Emirates from "general" to "high," warning travelers: "attacks could be indiscriminate and could happen at any time, including in places frequented by expatriates and foreign travelers such as residential compounds, military, oil, transport and aviation interests.

"You should maintain a high level of security awareness, particularly in public places."

The state has become famous for its horse racing and sporting events as well as spectacular engineering feats such as the Burj al-Arab hotel and a series of islands shaped like a palm tree where David Beckham has bought a home.

One of the September 11 pilots, Marwan al-Shehhi, who flew United Airlines 175 into the second of the twin towers, was from the small emirate of Ras al Khaimah, but the country as a whole has been relatively free from terrorism.

In 1999 explosives were found in a major shopping mall in Dubai, while in 2002 an al-Qa'eda suspect was arrested, thought to be in the planning stages of an attack.

That's bullshit. UAE may be under threat which is kind of obvious but the situation is no different today than yesterday. They just wanted some words to fill the page and gain readers. In fact I'd bet more people will read that than the article of burj dubai being completed

From who and why ? because most of the terrorist organisations known to us mostly from the middle east region ,if so are they going to destroy themself (?) that would be a little hard to understand , unless some one from else where paid them to do so or doing it under their names

If you would like to discuss the threat of terrorism in the United Arab Emirates, or any related topic, I would suggest you go to http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=646728. The only problem is that the forum has gone way off topic, but hopefully we can get this thread back on topic.
