So at the press of a button the tower will grow taller. Sounds creative!

Glad to see a new tread. This way we can watch all the steel section go up on a single tread. Also, on the opening tread maybe we can add; 5.5 million sq/ft and change floors from 162 to 164.

Did you guys read the whole press release? Once it is jacked up, the height will be locked.

@Hollie Maea

I know, but you never know what kind of tricks they still have up their sleeves.

It did mention about the spire being adjustable. However I do believe once it has been decided on the very first jacking up it will more or less be fixed and henced locked

Anyway I don't find this article info very reliable, most recent update of height has already far surpassed the 555.3m height, and the steel doesn't start at that height either.

So just an opinions from you guys, do you really think BD will really T/O by next summer as mentioned? I personally think that it will be end of next year instead.

60 minutes had a nice segment about Dubai tonight. They pretty much followed around the Sheikh, talking about all the major developments, includeing Burj Dubai. It seemed like they taped a long time ago, because Burj Dubai didn't even seem close to the height it's at now.

And I will somehow miss all the old Burj Dubai thread nonsense but it will be a hell of a lot better to navigate.
They got the job one year ago.

On the site of the burj dubai, www.burjdubaiskyscraper.com they changed the finishing date to summer 2009. Looks a nice date to go there

Maybe. L155 is U/C and only L155 mezzanine to follow. Both 3.2m high so only one pouring cycle per floor.
