^it wont be higher then 819m. if it will be it will be out of proportion.spire will look silly.
current design of 819m is perfect.
Doobedoobai- the 140m pinnacle will be housed inside the spire structure. It will be telescoped upwards when completion is near. sort of like a huge lightning rod for the tower.
It has internal access from its base at tier20b to tipo or you can use stairwell up to tier24 or 739m.

Hi all.

I agree with Altin and Cul that the big news on the height increase is news only to the masses - not to us in here. They have known about the so called delay for many months same as the height increase as the revised schedule I have posted many times is dated Feb. 26 '07 and shows a late Aug. '09 completion date.

Another milestone of sorts - top of tier 19 - 662.5 m.
Tier 20 will begin with a terrace facing 120 degrees.

Here is confirmation that the steel tier heights are sticking to the plans. I was reading through some PDF's and one on the tower cranes has an interesting bit of info.

The mast sections for the Favco cranes are 4.000 m. high. Each has 2 "sections" 2 m. high so it makes it easier to compare with the tier heights.

The masts are supported at the top of each tier ( so far ) so that also makes it easy to see the tier heights.

Thanks to Imre (again) for the pic.

The most important thing about the increase of size is if they add more habitable floors, but i dont think so. Then, the change of size isn't relevant for me.

^ dont know why emmar or som or media keep quoting 189fl?
189fl is between tier22 & 23.
i think if there going to quote floors ,they should quote 197, (tier24)
because thats how many floors that are enclosed and accessible by stairs.

thanks fury. yes ive been using 2m scale for crane shafts to calculate the height of tower crane.
i also think emmar are sticking to there guns going with 819m plans.
its very hard to all of a sudden go with alternate plans.
ive been in business too long to know its simply too greater deal to keep changing plans.
the materials and engineering aspects play a major part.
anyway all going according to plans.
the next steel section will reach lev176-669m not 666m?
but there will be a mid level landing at lev175-665.7m. / 30cm off the devils 666m. ha

btw, someone asked the otherday about how far cladding is going up the tower.

the cladding will reach tier27. (768m)
it will slowly terminate gradually from tier24.
Tier25 is where you start to see the steel pinnacle.!
should look perfect

photo from dubai, taken today (I think)

The cladding on the left side of the BD from this angle is only 2 floors away from reaching steel.

I was watching film the other day on people stranded in sea. If anyone is stranded at gulf, Tip of the BD's spire flashing can be the S.O.S at night, that way they'll know where to go to and how far out they are (very far)
