How are the slabs of concrete positioned underneath? i.e: 192 piles in 1 line; 10 piles in every row, etc.

This tower is leaning Nah with a tower this high you can't take the whole picture up close like this without leaning backward and that 's the effect of your camera , bottom to the front while the top is pointing to ward you

cooperchris-yes each of the 3 faces of burj dubai have differing heights. the main entrance 0.0m, another is -6m and other = -10m i think.
thats why the 819m height may end up 825m due to lower entry level.
great snaps otr. what a monster

^lol, cant wait for king kong 2009! storyline- they find kong on skull is and ship him to opening of Burj dubai. he escapes and climbs up the mighty burjD with screaming blonde in hand.
he gets to the top and hangs off while punching planes.. he looks down and relializes that he is up twice as high as his cousin ape was and slowly descends and hands himself in at base.
he then spots the newly complete lighthouse tower and climbs to top to play with little windmills. he gets his hand caught in blade and howls. but then spots Dubai land... mmuuuahhhhhh

Thanks Cul, so if one of the entrances goes -10m, then that would mean that Basement 1 is exposed (since it is 4m high) and would be cladded (on one side), am I right? I think the overall height should be 829m if that's true. That really screws up my model, I just finished podium 1 and now I have to change it again lol

the official height will be measured from the main entrance (0.00) anyways... Even if there is a door at -15.00 on the back side, it does not change the height

fury has a plan somewhere with heights of each concourse. i think the middle one is a better location of where height should be taken from.

Any idea what 3 different entrances are for? 1 for residences, 1 for Armani Hotel and 1 for the offices? And where is the car park?

I thought I read somewhere that it had to do with the use of multi-deck elevators.

questions about the lay of the land

There's entrances on three levels - Hotel on level 1, residences and ob-deck on Ground, and Business offices on Concourse. What's the lay of the land around the BD that makes this possible ? Somewhere I saw it was unique to have a building with entrance from the ground on three different levels.

Related question - are these levels connected inside by escalators so that if someone goes into any level they can easily go up or down to the level they wanted if they went in the wrong place, or are they all quite separate ?

What is the layout of the 8 escalators ? We havn't heard anything much about them, and the diagrams we see on Burjdubaiskyscraper are small scale in this part. We have seen bigger prints that cover the whole parking area, and it is large compared to the base raft area for the BD skyscraper.

What is the water level of the BD lake - where the new fountains will be built ? - if the ground level is 0 meters, Concourse at minus 6 and B1 parking at minus 10 meters ?

Thank you

library user- many questions. some we dont know answers yet.
fury will have better idea.
lake is about 2.4m deep.
otr-external lighting. hard to say. you cant light up units from outside. too many residents would complain.
thats why 2 of the worlds tallest are in darkness at night (Eureka and Q1) but Q1 has its crown lit because its architectural feature)
you can get away with lighting up office sections. but not hotel or apartments. will be in dark at night i think.
but as for spire. this can be light up like a christmas tree!
from about 600m up the tiers would have large spotlights shooting up each tier. i heard the small lourves that spiral around the pinnacle will be back lit, so that should be spectacular to see.
