haha, so normal floors don't have elevators am i to believe?
the elevators are contained within the core of the building and run throughout the building up until the last serviced floor (the one before the floor, whereby stairs and ladders continue to the top).

The Mech floors function is to contain air conditioning units, plumbing systems, electrical generators, chiller plants, communication and control systems and other mechanical and electronic equipment.
Furthermore, it serves to reinforce the strength of the core of the building and helps distribute the weight load of the building more effectively. In a way, it also aids in verticle height increase, as i think mechanical floors are about 3 times higher than regular floors.

Anyway, theres my 2 cents on mech floors.

yeah the swfc does have a indoor walk bridge that is 30m higher then burj dubai, but i think Burj Dubais will be more spectacular as its OUTDOOR as well.
30m up that wouldnt be noticeable.
swfc wont see much most of time due to pollution and burj dubais will be closed some days due to sand storms.
better off building in sydney ;-)
btw great shot otr.
getting harder to see up that high now?

What about the press release, which is saying the final hight will not be disclosed until the completion date in September 2009? They might finish the structure, build the spire inside and wait until everything else is completed, and just before opening in Sep 2009 they can lift the spire in one day. If it is going to top out this year, what is the point of saying the height will be kept secret until Sep 2009?

Would be the best entertainment and event for september 2009 when they lift the spire at the completion date - and every tv channel in the world transmit live pictures from the top of BD!! Would be nice!!

But i think its impossible, because crane is then still on top and must deconstruct...
