Judging from the first 4 rectangular vertical beams placed on steel section 14, a new pattern is on. Apparently, the two beams at the edge are the support columns for the small wings, and the two in the middle replace the usual big round column which stands on one of the corners of the triangle. A guess, by this way a cleft is formed which permits parts of the spire being get in.

this is awesome. excellent piccies imre.
may i ask how far you stand back to achieve these angled photos of top?
now i know why they call this steel section=the spire. it really is a simple structure that will eventually hold up the pinnacle upright.!
from this tier on we should see the hole in centre of each section for pinnacle to rise through.
gatberserk- we are up to lv177 not 170/
there are two levels for each 6.4m section.
over and out

This has to be a coolest meccano set I ever saw ( Meccanno meaning a kids toy from the 1950's that were assorted metal lengths with holes you could screw together with small nuts and bolts.)

How does the operator get into the crane? Is there an external ladder? If so, that must be a terrifiying experience: climbing a structure that's attached to the edge of the world's tallest building, with a LOT of wind blowing.

And to climb down would be worst...

From the last 3 pics I believe that the left crane will be able to jump only one more time and
the right possibly 2 or 3, depending on how the architecture develops further up.

But if I am right then the last pieces of the top will have to be manually position into place.
How are they going to do that?! Obviously at the moment there is no 3rd crane under construction.

Or I am completely wrong and the cranes are some how going to get all the way to the top.
Although I just dont see how that is going to happen.

I heard that Eversendai (the Malaysian sub-contractor erecting the steel section) has bough extra steel from a German producer.

I don't know if that means going taller then 818 or simply extra cross-bracing

that new 14th floor looks taller than floors below, maybe higher than 6.2 metres high.

It is higher than 6.2. It is 6.4 m. high - same as all the steel levels that have no mezz. level.

A little early to tell for sure but as mentioned a few posts ago looking at Imres recent pics they may be leaving an opening in the side of this tier ( tier 20 ).

Both cranes are in the process of extending this morning.
