Hi all.

Well another milestone reached - the top of tier 20 / start of tier 21 - 681.7 m.

Diagram is looking good Cul. I see you are putting a red section in the crane masts at the top of every tier - you know it's the little things that make the difference.

I gotta say the "other" forum has a few jealous types. Between the "it's so thin it looks like will snap", "it is so small up there what's the point", and the classic "the whole spire is useless" it is getting hard to go there. I'm not saying everyone there is like that - most are not, but the ones that are just can't get past the fact that nothing even close to this great structure will ever be built in their country. Sad really ...

I guess we will have to wait untill completion to get any inside shots. Not sure but I believe they do not allow visits inside the structure anymore after the basejumper jumped off his holy grail - a cryin' shame ...

yes thanks for your ongoing assistance.
seems to be rising quicker now?
both cranes have the sections under the cabin which assist in rising the tower shaft so we will get a rise soon.
I cant understand why jealousy? or how members fault the design of mighty burjD ?
This is one of those structures that come along once in lifetime.

Wednesday I'm going to Dubai for an Internship at a construction company for about 5 months. I will definately make lots of pictures and I want to contribute to this forum by posting them but what is the easiest way to upload them to the forum? Or where can I find any help?

I'm so curious seeing BD in reallife and especially the spire-lifting will be very interesting to see! Hopefully they start lifting before December.. Fury maybe you're the man for this: do you know whether the steel elements of the spire are put into the steelstructure at this moment or are they going to put them in after the rest of the steelstructure is finished?

Cheers

The cladding is due to be finished in October, which basicly means the entire structure should be finished by then (except interior). Whether they actually finish it by then is a different matter.

For posting pictures, you can use either your personal pages within your internet provider site (my solution), or share them through a specialized pics sharing site, like photobucket, flickr etc.

Easy ton find those sites browsing with Google. You will need an internet connection on location though.

Once uploaded, just link to each pic in your post using the "insert image" command (or manually use ).

the steel is now up to tier21. this is the roof no 3 in spire section. when it gets to tier22 or 3 more steel segments which is roof no4 or 701m high, the pinnacle will start be constructed inside the steel segments starting from tier20B.it will be slowly raised upwards through growing steel segments and finally telescoped up to final position which will be over 800m high.

He asked what is open to the public now (in Dubai), not if BD will have or not an open-air observation deck.

No 4th mech. floor yet but both 4th and 5th mechs. not far away from starting.

The only areas that will need cladding within next few months will be the areas restricted by either cranes or elevators.

first photo on the post number 8728 shows good cladding progress on the first steel floor. The same photo shows top 2 concrete floors or (one floor mezzanine, whatever) has shorter glass height than the rest of the glasses below that level, But isn't the half height of the ones below. Does anyone know the height difference between these two glasses?
