Are you sure it going to be over 800 Meter?

Never know, it might stop around 700 meter.

Not to mention it would look REALLY awkward if it just suddenly cut off.

Hi all.

Hey ZZ.

In regard to the cranes - here is a portion of the only schedule I have seen from 07 02 26.

- Spire lifting start 2nd week of July - we know they are behind schedule.

- Top out 3rd week of Sept. - highly unlikely as lifting start is behind.

- The second tower crane was due to come down middle of June ( second from the top red dotted line ) - we know that has not happened.

- The third tower crane scheduled to come down 2nd week of Dec. ( top red dotted line )

- The first recovery crane ( R#2 )was to go up middle of Dec. '07 ( blue dotted lines are recovery cranes as we can see ). On Nov 10 '07 the third tower crane was setup down on level 99. It was scheduled to be taken down from the top first week of Dec. '07 - we know it was taken down before that. I wonder if that crane is R#2 ???

- R#1 was scheduled to go up first week of May - we know that never happened.

- R#3 is scheduled to go up first week of Jan. '09.

Obviously there has been many revisions to the schedule since this one. How I wish full public disclosure was the norm for all buildings and structures. I mean full and complete sets of blueprints, all schedules and revisions thereof, and minutes of all meetings, etc. I know there is security issues because of terrorist scumbags ( and probably many other issues also ) but it would sure be nice for the rest of us. Hey if nothing else at least make it available to the SSC fraternity ...

Good day all.

The only official height given by Emaar is that the Burj Dubai will be over 700 metres.

Well, that might be a problem as the Palm Jumeirah and the city centre (Deira and Bur Dubai [NOT Burj Dubai]) are not next to each other.

To have a view of both the city centre and Sheikh Zayed Road, I would recommend the Observation Deck at the World Trade Centre.

To see the Palm Jumeirah, you should go to a restaurant at the top of a building in Dubai Marina.

I hope this helps.

True but since we have official plans and info that wasn't released to the public we know the 818.0 m. is the official plan.

The CTBUH measure when the structure is completed could be as high as 825.1 m. though.

Fury, even though the spire lifting is behind schedule, can we expect the lifting to be soon? If not, then when can it be expected.

No one knows, it could be 750 metres. What about 819 metre figure? did it come from emaar as well?

The 819 meter figure comes from CULWULLA's diagram, which is extremely accurate with the current construction process if you observed it tier by tier. And LoverofDubai is right in saying that the only thing Emaar's said to the general public is that the guaranteed height is over 700 meters.

EDIT: Just a sunset shot from 7/27, has nothing really to do with what I just said

yes very confusing with crane schedules. the steel is up to roof3 now and the pinnacle wont be lifted until the steel reaches roof4 which is another 3 steel segments.
id say another 2months. and then steel will slowly rise up with pinnacle being hoisted up.
id say burj dubai is about 3-5 months behind.? it may top out before xmas.

Cullwulla, I've always said December 31st 2008 is the final height announcement day to the world and should also be damn near to topping out accompanied by the world record attempt with fireworks for The Guinness Book of Records.

Perhaps pinnacle raising day jacked up from the inside the BD as previously discussed on this thread?

Cranes

IMO: If you look at the areas serviced by the cranes in this pic from yesterday, the crane located on L99 has historically been used to locate cladding skips, ground level works, and lifting plant and equipment into the 1st, 2nd and 3rd mechanical floors but in the pic the cladding gaps within reach of this crane are closing and it would not be a cost effective location for this crane. I think that this crane will be gone within the next week or two.

The two cranes located at the top will keep extending and not be replaced. One will be removed when the spire area gets to difficult to coordinate dual crane movement where the crane at the western face will then be dismantled.

Just my opinion.
