Who is that guy? The photos are amazing. And he uses a quiet expensive Camera. EOS Ds Mark II for the airals, and the elevator picture on burjdubaiskyscraper.com is even a EOS Ds Mark III

Interesting question... I think that rather has to do some scientific breakthroughs like fusion energy or (strong) artificial intelligence instead of buildings.

The Burj Dubai is more like a "normal" skyscraper (except for the height), Still, I would say we'd be at or near Type I level when we build a city-size arcology (like the ones proposed for Tokyo).

None of the levels on the scale have anything to do with building stuff, but being able to harness energy. Type 1 means being able to harness all the potential energy on our planet. Type 2 a star, and type 3 our galaxy.

Ohh my! The BD is massive, when I was a kid the Sears was worlds tallest and I thought that was tall! I love the shape and the effect of the cladding.
Awesome photos espec the helecopter shots.

Just so everyone knows, the image posted by Shahid is not from the Burj Dubai. That is the atrium of one of the Emirates Towers.
