Why can't they look at Abu Dhabi, which has a pretty good Urban design and density like NY. I hope Business Bay allows for that to happen. If the weather was cooler during the summer, it would have been a whole different story i suppose.
Are you aware of the temperatures that Dubai reaches? To make it generally pedestrian friendly is quite a complex thing because of the climate.

Interesting idea.

Abu Dhabi is planned to be much more pedestrian friendly, and they obviously have higher density, they plan buildings so that they cast a lot of shades, in the future the tram network they will build will be air conditioned etc.

Envrionmental friendliness? Bring that issue to the technical physicists. Time for them to build some thorium fission plants and use the energy to produce fuels.

The biggest environmental problem I see here is that it will cover a huge are of the desert habitat, which, contrary to what it might seem at on the surface, has its own substantial ecosystem. But I still think its worse in some other places.

But for now, Sheikh Zayed Road and all of the absurd development going on all around it makes Dubai look like just one enormous theme park.

That's all I have to say on this thread. Crucify me as you like.

There is no doubt that the way Dubai has been built (masterplanned) and its design, will have an impact.

Yes i am aware. I have lived in Dubai for 8 years now. And i said IF the climate was cooler. And look at Abu Dhabi... you can walk on the streets. In Dubai you need a car because the density is dispersed. If you had streets with buildings on each side (close to each other) and being pedestrian friendly, temperatures wont matter.

Since when did this rule go into effect, or are you talking out of your exit point again like our basejumper?

btw, when promotional photos from EMAAR, Besix, Arabtech, and Armani start rolling out in Oct/Nov., do not post them because they've all been touched up with processing.

Point taken, there is no doubt, that so far, Dubai is not very pedestrian friendly nor does it have any good public transport. Most of it is very new though. The important thing is pedestrian possibilities locally, and public transportation connecting the different places. A place like SZR (the Emirates Towers part), will probably never be very pedestrian friendly, but parts of it can be improved.

still incorrect diagram. why cant they get it right?
all the tiers are wrong heights.they have no tier at lev124 ob deck.
the highest tiwer is 768m and this diagram has 755m. the spire is 808m and should be atleast 819m.
and why do they still have old design of al burj next to it? piss it off.
