The only thing is that having wind blowing in your face when the air temperature is 50 degrees is more like buring your face than cooling you down.

New Kid On The Block

Hello everyone. This is my first post. I've been checking out this site for quite a while now and I figured that it was time to sign up and be able to put in my hopefully intelligent comments from time to time. This damn website is worse than drugs! I find I need to check it out at least once a day to see what the latest posts are about.

I find the Burj Dubai to be a fascinating building. It's amazing what they are able to achieve now with the use of computers and with the advancements they have made with construction materials. It's a shame we can't get regular updates and pictures on the fitting out of the interior of the building.

Question....when the building has been topped out, how are they going to dismantle and remove the last crane from the top.

^hi welcome.
the last crane will be dismantted by a recovery crane which is a smaller crane.
normally that can be pulled apart by workers and placed in lift.

Welcome Klaw!

Here's a blast from the past! These shots are from early April 2007. It's incredible to see how much has gone up throughout the city in just over a year.

However there have a been a couple of earthquakes in town that triggered evacuation of the tall SZR towers (among others).

Anyway, it is a well known fact that a tall building resists better the force of an earthquake compared to a short one.

I think Emaar will announce the 700m mark, as the first building to reach this height and thus the first company to build this high it will be great publicity for them. Mind you I think everyone not living under a rock has heard of the Burj by now
