There's nothing wrong with the shadows. The pic is taken in sunset and the plane might be higher from the horizon line then the sun plus it is turning therefore not flying parallel with the ground, and that's why the shadow of the wing falls over the fuselage.

The picture is authentic (but old).

Exactly. But don't forget that a new airport is being build at Jebel Ali.

Yes the new "mammoth" airport project "Al Maktoum", I do know it's a long way from completion, 2017 or somewhere in there.

It is still a fare way off Burj Dubai and it is also perpendicular.

Hi all.

Nice shots guys.

I wonder if the smaller Favco up top is done lifting itself higher? I don't think the 2 cranes have ever had this difference in height before. It could be they are waiting on delivery of some more sections - we shall see.

Perhaps they will disassemble it soon and be down to one crane up top like the plans were all along.

Yeap. Stay sharp OTR, Imre, AltinD. The dismantling is something I REALLY would like to see, specially the detaching of the crane arm and the cabin operator.

I wish people would stop quoting picture posts- it would be far better to simply the post number you would like to reference. Waste of time scrolling through the same pictures again and again.

Anyway- the tower is looking awesome! With the cladding really almost totally complete it gives a really great shimmer to the tower, giving it a crystaline form, somewhat like a stalagmite- I wonder where the stalactite it originates from is? Somewhere up in space, lol.

While the cranes have the biggest difference in height since the steel section was started it doesn't mean for sure they will disassemble it right away.

They could be waiting for the procurement of sections although I kinda doubt this is the case.

They could also keep it at this height and use it for some time - perhaps months.

Or they could take it down soon.

Going by OTR's excellent steel timetable we should be seeing the first column of section 21A soon. Just one more section after that and we will be over 700 meters.

EDIT:

Here is a shot from the 19th. The smaller Favco is the crane closest to us. There is 3 white sections above the highest red section (at the start of tier 20) and below the self climbing structure. Remember a crane mast section is made up of 2 - 2.000 m. parts.

Here is a shot from the 23rd. The smaller Favco is on the left. There is only 2 sections between the highest red section and the self climbing structure.

The crane has definitely self lowered itself one section.

Just you Helghast.

The steel sections are 6.4m.

The terrace / setback at the start of tier 21 (the section they are working on) faces the smaller crane (240 degrees). That is why it looks shorter in the second pic I posted.
