no 18th floor's steel beam is in place YET, but should be installed very soon. But currently nearly completed 17th floor, but hopefully new beam is installed as I'm speaking.

But isn't the concrete slab used only on the first floors of the steel section that will be used for equipments, while using simple steel deck sheets for the flooring of the upper levels?

I've been curious about this but on the top 4 concrete floors, what are those really narrow spaces just outside the core used for? because like as soon as you step outta the elevator, there will be glass right infront of you...
http://www.burjdubaiskyscraper.com/2...ubai021402.jpg
ive actually always wondered that myself
i know its used to keep the windows in place,
but im not sure if it will be habitable or not
if it is, then it will probably be for a very small side room,
leading off another room/hallway inside the core

Hi Altin.

Upon closer inspection it looks like there is concrete slabs up to level 160, then only at the start of each tier - where there is a terrace - from tier 19 to 24. Looks like no slab at the start of tier 18. The concrete covers the entire floor including the terrace. I see there is also a slab at section 20B - perhaps because of the base of the pinnacle.

Above is detail for tiers 19, 20, and 21.

Here is tiers 22, 23, and 24 showing the concrete.

Here is tiers 25, 26, and 27 showing no concrete.

hard to believe the mighty burj dubai is 400m HIGHER then a 300m supertall.
sort of ridicules that category. thus the reason iv been lobbying for a 500m+ megatall category.

China is building more than 100 supertalls, so I read. A megatall thread list would be excellent.

How many times I have told you that apart the parties who don't want to say anything, this forum is the most reliable source of informations and updates?

Thk's OTR. Looks like the lower crane will dismantle next few weeks. First the self-climbing unit go away. Maybe they will use the crane to install the spire erect system.
The speed is now very fast, good weather conditions last week?

Looking at the third photo i posted today I can see the aluminium forming that makes up the corrogated flooring on all steel levels completed today, as posted in Fury,s image.
