it was for short time, now the beam has been wheeled down or something, but very soon people will congratulate again. And also soon we'll see parts of spire getting lifted upto the top and rooting down to the bottom of the steel structure then going all the way upward.

Acording to Samsung video the wheels (no wheel in the video, why ?) will be hide by the columns soon and not take long to see spire rising.

Hi all.

The 700 may be a few days early but it will happen soon enough - it may have been premature banaculation but it still felt good.

The shot by OTR of the jacking mechanism is news just as big.

My hats off to all the photogs in Dubai that keep us up to date - OTR, Imre, Dennis, Altin, and all the rest.

this video proofs how beautiful, reflectiv and impressiv the cladding is. In this video the ladding seems to look more silverish than on the pictures....

And itīs the second video which shows the scale of this beautiful monster....especially when they fly over the tower and the cam looks down...

Lifting equipment.

Hello guys,

Just about the lifting equipment and the wheels that you saw, I just wanted to tell you that these seem to be strand jacks. The wheels are just guides for the lifting cables, and lifting power come from hydraulic jacks:

The image is one example of how jacks are used to perform heavy lifting (source mammoet.com).

comparing the area with people on page 494 aerial shot, im sure 900 + m is their aim, apparently i ve seen much smaller footprints for 300+ monsters in dubai…

O.O.

All I can say is that I hope that stunning video was captured for a documentary. Oh how nice it would be if we had that in high quality to watch. Thanks to the awesome people for uploading that!

Great pics and neat installations of the winching equipment - will be neat to see the process be carried out step by step. Thanks guys for continuing to give us updates and for DennisS for shots from the same angle every day.

I don't think you can go anywhere near that far. You forgot an awful lot of market from significant buildings, the Empire State Building being one of the most obvious.

i said AFTER the sears tower and WTC towers.......this means the time after 1975.......!Surely the ESB was a great milestone but it was build BEFORE sears and WTC!

And if Emaar build this thing really 900m tall than it would be like putting the ESb ontop of Taipei 101 + 11 additional meters......imo the BD is the greatest architectural milestone ever.....
