Sit tight.

By the time it's finished you'll probably be able to see it from your balcony.

A long walk up the stairs

I assume they are not building elevators at these top levels. How many levels and steps do the workers need to go up now to get to the crane? http://www.skyscrapercity.com/images/smilies/lurker.gif

Definetly, Dubai is in an other level

senju-the external workers lift currently reaches tier19/
so you would have to walk up 9 steel segments or 18 floors to reach current highest point.
see diagram

no wonder its not habitable.. but it is accessible ,which i hope each section is airconditioned, so the maintenance guys wont have to walk up last 40 floors in hot stuffy conditions.
Aren't temperatures going to be a bit lower at 700m ?

Who is going to clean the windows after a SAND STORM? Not me!!!!
on another note,
So if I wanted to get to the current crane, I will have to hike up 18 levels.
Hmmm.......the workers at the top really get their exercise!!!
So where is the closest bathroom for them? Since it a sandstorm maybe no one will see if you take an "AIR LEAK" from the crane!!!!

I'm not new..

Hey, i'm not new here, i used to be "Ember_To_Ashes" but for sum reason it wont let me log in properly to post anything under that name! grrrr

anyway, i wanted to say.... do you remember when the concrete topped out, it said 601m.... surely if they have measured it as 601m OFFICIALLY then thats the height we should be starting steel from....

Meaning it would be some 15m more than what we think it is at the moment.

601 m it's concrete pumping not the top of concrete which is 586 m

Hi Ember.

They did correctly measure the concrete at 601 but they measured the total height of the concrete from the raft. The plans start from the floor of the ground level - 15.25 m. above the raft - that's why the top of the concrete is at 585.7 m.
