They're also busy with the spire lifting system inside the current upper steel floors, so I don't expect steel floors progressing any faster from now.

You have to consider the "heat island" effect in urban areas, which make denser parts of cities much hotter then the rest of them.

I remember a few years back when I was driving in a very dense area and the car thermometer was showing 52. I took a turn just a small block away into an area probably effected by wind, and the temperature immediately drooped to 47.

... needless to say I was also stuck in traffic for long the car A/C couldn't cope with it and just kept shutting off. HELLLLLLL

well it goes down for a few thousand feet then temperatures start to increase ,then they start decreasing again, then increasing, then they decrease once more i believe then you are in space

Wow - So if you stand at the base of the tower and look up, it will look like the floors will continue up a LOT higher than it really is.. anything higher than 650m will get blurry with the naked eye (give or take depending on the person).

The Sky City Render was obviously drawn a few years ago.
- Before the height change from 705 on the BD
- When Tall Tower was still called The Pinnacle

is it necessary to build such a tall building on this planet?
i think it's too difficult and too expensive to run this building. how many companies would move in? what's the occupancy rate? is Dubai a globally recognized business hub?

Hi all.

We gotta be getting close to the first section of tier 22.

I am interested to see if they will erect all 3 tier 22 sections before starting on the jacking - is so it could be 3 weeks away yet. I am thinking they will erect at least some of the sections and probably all - here's why :

The jacking plan looks like it is slightly altered but I'm sure it will be done in 2 stages as per the original jacking plan. The "wheels" are part way up section 21B just like the plan at approx. 697 m. So it still looks like 2 - 56 m. lifts for a total jacking height of 112 m. - again as per the plan. But to get to 818 from 697 is 121 m. so having at least some of tier 22 up will serve as a platform to assemble and weld the extra 9 m.

All conjecture at this point but I think it will be something close to this.

Can't wait ...

The next tallest should be tall enough to scratch the moonmans' face.

You know, technically skyscrapers as a whole are not necessary. We could just as easily build horizontally in every city. Endless rows of houses and low-rise commercial buildings.

So why ask with every tall building, "is it really necessary?"?!?!?!?!?!

Of course it is necessary - it's the nature of Man to always want to achieve more.
