Hi Drew.

Nothing "new" - I make a labelled pic of each tier top as we reach them. I have made one for each tier top from the start. The last one was posted a few pages ago and is the last in the group of pics of my stuff called pic to plan comparisons on Bikes' site on the facts page .

Hi Spandex.

The 818.0 plan has not been deviated from at all. There is no way 835 will be the official CTBUH measurement unless they extend the pinnacle higher which IMO will not happen this late in the game. The 835 comes from adding the underground levels which will not be included in the height.

Let me repeat what I have posted before ;

- The plans say 818.0 from the floor of the ground level to the floor of the platform on the top of the pinnacle and that will not change no matter what the CTBUH comes up with.

- The official CTBUH measurement will be done after completion and may include the concourse level which is 6 m. below the ground level but does have an entrance at "grade", and also the handrail around the top platform (1.1 m. high) as it is a permanent part of the structure.

- So we could see any one of these 4 - 818.0 m., 819.1 m., 824.0 m., or 825.1 m.

On the subject of the cranes at the top;
As we can see the smaller and lower crane will not rise any higher as the self raising form is gone now. The top of the bigger and higher crane's mast is now lower than the level they are working on for the first time. As I posted a few weeks ago I think it may not rise any more as it is high enough for tier 22 to be erected and for the jacking proceedure - the self raising form is still on it though so we will see. I think they may use the smaller crane for a while yet but I do think we will be down to one crane sometime. I don't think we will see the tiny disassemly crane untill after the jacking is done and they don't need the cranes anymore.

I think I'm going to get banned for this post, but the mountainous stupidity on this forum is just too much for me to bear.

QUOTE FROM USER: UNIXER: is it necessary to build such a tall building on this planet?
i think it's too difficult and too expensive to run this building. how many companies would move in? what's the occupancy rate? is Dubai a globally recognized business hub?

Of course it is necessary - it's the nature of Man to always want to achieve more.

STUPID RESPONSE TO KRATTLE #1: Skyscrapers take up less space.
STUPID RESPONSE TO KRATTLE #2: Skyscrapers are good for the planet, to build a 100 story skyscraper you have to cut down less forests than to build 20 5 story buildings.

Ok, whoa here. The first time someone misunderstood my post I wasn't going to say anything, but now that half the board hasn't understood my intent I am forced.

No one ever bothered to read or quote my ENTIRE post, and secondly I was responding to someone who thought it unnecessary to build something like the Burj Dubai. I was trying to point out to him why we build skyscrapers - as per my post: "Of course it is necessary - it's the nature of Man to always want to achieve more."

I think skyscrapers are necessary and when I said they aren't, that was SARCASM!

I have a feeling another 5 pages of Burj Dubai forum are about to get deleted by the moderator....

I have to fully agree with what Dennis says about the offtopics.

It can start to get a bit annoying, if you have to read long posts about something that is not directly connected to Burj Dubai. Sometimes, it just pisses me of, to be honest.
On the other hand, i think it is normal that such things come up and the people just react. Itīs like you know.. I will write stupid things just to have more posts on this forum. And climb up the table of the best contributors..

Anyway.. Itīs nice to see the next steel floor go up. With the last three sections taking 2 to 3 days less then the recent one, looks like we could see big things shortly..

Angus MacFarlane, the technical Director of Hyder Consulting said that last week's 4.8 magnitude earthquake has only moved the spire of Burj Dubai by 0,1 meters. The UAE is considered to be a Zone 2A by an American standard with Zone 4 being the most endangered and Zone 1 the least.

Sure, and I heard that in another 50 years the Egyptians will be dismantling the pyramids. Come on pal do you really believe that they'll keep the Burj for just 20 years, don’t believe everything you hear or read for that matter.

On topic, any photos of the spire come up yet? Shouldn't they have started hoisting pieces of it by now?
