Hi all.

Great shots OTR. I think the larger Favco that is not being dismantled is already high enough to erect 2 more sections of tier 22 and for the jacking proceedure. I think the self raising/lowering form still on it is so it can lower itself to the bottom of its mast and then be dismantled. I think the platform you pointed out is for the recovery crane - it looks at the right height to dismantle the Favco after it has self lowered. It is also on the same side of the structure as the terrace that the crane on level 99 is on.

As has been posted before the plan is to lower it to level 99 so the Favco there can lower it to the ground. Then a recovery crane can be assembled and lower the favco from level 99. The recovery cranes can be disassembled and taken down in the internal elevators.

All conjecture but that is (was) the plan so we shall see.

mr_angers suggested a software that auto-stitch the photos so here is the result. High Quality pic in this link. I'll try to put Burj Dubai in the centre when am in a mood !

See post 10303... that platform might not take the weight of a recovery crane... could sit on the tier just below.. It would have to be at least a Favelle Favco R370 which will in turn be recovered with an SDD20/15 derrick crane... process would be repeated for lower crane.

Hi abc.

Thanks for your crane expertise. The old schedule I have does show 3 recovery cranes but it doesn't say what make or model they are. It's yet another part of this project that will be interesting to see.

On another note I sure hope they let people do tours inside after top out so we get updates on progress. Once the outside looks finished it will be a long wait untill opening day. I'm sure after that the updates and pics will be coming from all over.

The country of Dubai has some of the best and nicest looking buildings in the world. They have an infinite amount of money at hand. I wonder what will happen when they run out of oil to sell? What the city will look like then?

I want to make sure there is no misunderstanding:

Dubai is not a country. It is an emirate within the United Arab Emirates.

Dubai does not have a lot of oil. 5-10% of the GDP comes directly from oil (and it is decreasing year-by-year). Dubai's economy is reliant on trade, business, tourism, real estate and construction.

Sorry, but I get really frustrated when I read/hear incorrect statements regarding Dubai.

boy i would hate to live in the top portion of that building. if a plane crashes into the upper tier of that building, the entire top needle-like portion of that building will just fall over like a broken twig. 50th floors is enough for me to climb down when that building gets evacuated in a terrorist attack.

When you are this far away, it creates the illusion that Dubai has one CBD, looks good!

Sorrry for off the topic but as this thread has heighest visitors i want the latest development diagram in dubai...panorama view and above 500m tower list .......

what would be the population of the Dubai and Greater Dubai ? As u can see from Google Earth distance between Duabi,Sharjah and Ajman is negligible......it should be more than40 Lacks (40,00,000) and many more to increase.......
