Hi all.

Great stuff OTR !

You bet that is some pinnacle we can see for the first time. I think it looks to be 2.1 m. dia. The 2 attachment points for one of the fins is clearly visible. Those are 1.8 m. apart so it looks like this will drop into the void and be near the bottom of the first jacking stage.

I wonder if they are going to build and drop down sections of the pinnacle into the void and add to the top of it as they go. If they are going by the old jacking plan we have there is a void in the center going down a number of sections. I think before the jacking starts we will be able to see the top platform on top of tier 30 sticking up (tier 30 is only 1.2 m. dia.). Then 2 approx 60 m. jacking stages gets us to top out.

I also wonder if they are going to build the second wing of tier 22 before they start jacking. So many questions ...

Anyway no doubt the first column of section 22A is up giving us 713.7 m.

EDIT: Upon closer inspection the pinnacle we can see might be 1.5 m. dia.

Hi Fury,

Maybe see a bit more detail taken two mins ago with zoom at max although blurry.

You can see the spire fin a bit clearer, and also some detail at the base of the spire. Do you have any detail on that?

I have an interesting question? Based on Richard Braddish's diagram the base of the pinnacle starts from 675m, but these pics clearly show us different. The part shown in the pic above doesn't seem to connect with any other similar part below thus this looks to be the base of the pinnacle. Which is 32m higher than the indicated in the diagram? If my reasoning is correct could this mean a change in overall height or just the actual base of the pinnacle is different from the one in the diagram.

Was also trying to work that one out, but I guess anything can happen at this stage if there was a variation to the spire plan.

The base of the pinnacle is 2.1 m. dia. As I said the 2 attachment points for one of the fins are 1.8 m. apart - the actual fin is not there yet. The pinnacle we can see looks like it is part of tier 28 at 1.5 m. dia. but it is hard to tell.

I don't think we will see the base of the pinnacle go in untill after jacking as they need the void to be open. I think they will jack up the top of the pinnacle with say tiers 28 to 30 then build and weld tiers 24 to 27 to the bottom of what is already jacked and then jack the whole works into position. Then build the one wing of tier 23 after that (and the second wing of tier 22 if they don't build it before jacking). Since the base of the pinnacle extends down to section 20B inside the void perhaps they will also build that after jacking ?

That is why I think before any jacking starts we will see the top of tier 30 (1.2 m. dia.) with the top platform welded to it sticking out the top like what we are seeing now.

This is probably the most amazing structure ever built. I don't think this can realistically be surpassed.

Damn, I hoped to be the first one to post pics of it, hahaha Quite a surprise this morning when I drove by... Crane totally gone, new steel floor started and finally a piece of spire to be seen. Fury is right, they are now just putting in the top sections of the spire to lift that up first, after the jacking the rest will be put in from a side opening of which I don't know where it is, but it is cool to see something of the spire already. Things are progressing very fast this, and coming weeks! My pics are coming...
