I tried to say it more subtile, but you're totally right! Seems like with all the news about Nakheel Tower skyscrapercity gets a lot of new forumers...

But anyway, nice pictures, it is rising very fast!

BTW, The fountain is also nice modelled! Hope to go there tomorrow!

Near the tower of the highest building (Burj Dubai) will rise even the largest fountain in the world! Says the topleader of the developer Emaar.

The water goes more then 150m high in the air! Thats 10 meters taller then the lake in (currently recordholder)of Genčve. The waterconstruction is a part of a hole complex of fountains wit a area apprometly 2 large footballfields! The costs of the projects will be circa 140 miljoen euro.

Another record for Dubai. Its REANING records in height!!!

At the first picture of the Cityscape models, which tower is that on the right of the BD?

Boulevard Plaza. Noticed on the model today that there was three of them, but only two under construction.

Hi all.

Great shots OTR and Dennis. With the daily updates it is almost like being there.

So section 22B has begun - 720.1 m.

They are working on the last section of one wing of tier 22. Just 2 more sections of the other tier 22 wing should be all they erect before jacking begins. Technically the jacking proceedure has begun as getting pinnacle pieces up there and ready is part of it.

A bit OT - the proposals coming in the wake of cityscape is mind boggling. With Atrium City Towers (Dubai 1 ?) at ~ 850 m. and Nakheel Tower at ~ 1140 m. the BD really has paved the way for taller structures. The comment that the BD is somehow less than it was because it won't be the WTB for long is bogus. We all knew it wouldn't be the WTB for ever. It always will be a fantastic design that took the title from guyed masts for the first time in many decades. IMO the BD will always be the great structure that brought skyscrapers out of the blackness of 9-11 when for a while it seemed we would never see a new WTB.

I completely agree with you "bear". It feels like it was not so long ago when my first impression with the city of Dubai began with Burj Al Arab and now things are so different.

The main architect of Burj Dubai was right when he said it will dominate the sky only 8 to 9 years. But I didn’t believe that so soon new projects will appear or even that they will be in Dubai as well.

Fury, Help, I have a few things going around in my head at the moment that does not make the final height of 819m click as it should, with information that we now already know.

Culwulla’s drawing of the spire shows the spire base located at 675m, and we know that the wheels for the lifting mechanism are at 700.1m.therefor the spire cannot be raised with the spire base above that level.

Bear with me.

We can see the first pics of the spire that I posted on 28th September starting at 32m higher than 675m (707m)as previously pointed out by Avangard in post 10372 so if everything is equal that we base our final height on

Spire base at 707m
Length of spire (819 –675) = 144m
Spire base + spire length = Final height 851m

Alternative calculation

Lifting mechanism wheels not exceeded at 700m
Length of spire (819 –675) = 144m
Lifting mechanism max. + spire length = Final height 844m

There may be a few metres out pending on the length of spire already in the structure (by alternative calculation would be around 7m) when I initially posted the pic,

I guess both equations are based on a 144m spire total length as being the common denominator.

Everyone shoot me down or whatever but I can only see the 819m height being exceeded, or is this just pure ramblings?

Oh and for information, every property sold directly from Emaar in the Downtown development area, had a final price ending in 888 but I think that is pushing it a bit.

The BDLH has been recently moved to the completed thread for obvious reasons.

No Im not confused by any building in the BD downtown area its my home!

I can recommend a visit to the 63rd floor in the BDLH, it will save a lot of money on helicopter hire, but for some reason the view from the 63rd felt as though I was in line with the BD 99th crane level. Maybe just an optical illusion of sorts.

Haha, that's why I'm always scared to say something on these threads cause I clearly don't live out there, sorry for my confusion.
