you sound nervous & American, keep in mind.... us Americans built our cities on low wage workers 60 - 80 years ago, so it's not that big of a deal that dubai is, if it was a big deal, something would have been done already

i think once Imre comes back it will be more attractive. and even more when we get some new aerials ( which are the best pics of the tower)

Hi all.

At the risk of being redundant - let me repost this.

IMO the BD will always be the great structure that brought skyscrapers out of the blackness of 9-11 when for a while it seemed we would never see a new WTB.

Stewartrama ...

People can speak their minds in here including OTR and even you ...

Thing is OTR is one of the people in here that contribute regularly. You on the other hand have nothing to contribute except your negative opinion about this project. Perhaps OTR was having a bad day or their is more to it than what we read - None of my business and none of yours either.
Peace brother.

Anyway ... What a fantastic week for Dubai. Many cool projects in the pipe. The next WTB will always get most of the attention but it will never take away from the BD. The amount of info we have about this thing during construction is not likely to be equalled - although I can hope. I too will be collecting pics and info on the next WTB, but I won't stop collecting pics and info on the BD because when it's completed we can expect a bunch of interior finish pics as people stay in the hotels and residences.

That's a great analysis. Well put; right on the money.

Burj Dubai is a sort of mythical creature for me. It feels someway like a collective achievement, all of us watching a structure like this being built, and following every step..

Hi all.

Thanx Leo. Yes the BD is the first WTB to be watched by so many on the net. With these and other great forums, the digital camera, and the net we can all feel as if we are there and that this magnificant structure is being built in our backyards - fantastic.

On another note they have really gone to work on taking the other crane mast down. My apologies for no credit on this one - I tried to retrace my steps but alas I can't find where i got this today ...

No. Cladding cannot be completed until the structure is completed.

First of all: WOW! That view from 'The Adress' is stunning! Been there yesterday and after a bit trouble got to the 63th floor Pics are trough glass, dammit, but you'll have to do with it, still impressive imo And some closeups from the Old Town and SZR, seeing another steel beam going up, cool! Enjoy...

Another pic (from this morning) coming.

Melbourne had this in 1888.....nearly the tallest except for maybe Chicago ?
I think Burj Dubai will always be looked on as a milestone building as it has made a dramatic leap beyond any former world's tallest which often took the title by only a few metres since the Empire State Building.

And Rotterdam had this in 1898, tallest office building in Europe at that time.

Only another 3 x 6.4 floors and we're about done with height for a while. I Think they will then get all the spire ready and then jack it up and once thats all done they will attatch the 3 x 9.6 meter fins onto the spire.

Easily a topping out by new year i'd say!

What a way to start 2009! i do hope they have lots of fireworkds and celebratons for new year centered around Burj Dubai to also coincide with the topping out.
