- As I said in the post directly above yours the pinnacle has not been jacked any - we are still at ~730m.

No we do not know the height exactly and we will not untill the jacking is done. Only estimates comparing the known height of the erected sections to the partially jacked pinnacle and spire are possible during the jacking proceedure.

I don't think sections 22A and 22B of the second wing of tier 22 or the 3 sections of tier 23 will be erected untill jacking is complete. Even one more section of the wing facing the crane will prevent the crane from rotating 360 degrees. We shall see - the 3 sections of the only wing of tier 23 go on top of the tier 22 wing that does not face the crane so it is possible to erect them before jacking.

Also guys - here is the naming convention used in the plans :

The pinnacle is the circular tiers 27 to 30 at the top of the structure - pinnacle 1 to 4.

The spire is tiers 22 to 26 - spire 1 to 5.

The roof(s) are tiers 19 to 22 - roof 1 to 4.

Tier 22 is both roof 4 and spire 1.

but if it does take 6 weeks, how does that compare to speed of formwork moving up?

You can still use Imageshack for uploading pictures! You just need to do something more to get your link to it:

At the bottom of the page after uploading a picture, you need to do this:

They say that you mustn't use it for forums, but you can still do it. I've done it multiple times with big images.

I've misread his post. I'm sorry. I thought he meant that you couldn't post full-res pictures anymore on forums.

If the file is less than 1 meg it will allow the actual image to appear on the forum otherwise only thumbs or links. It will also allow other files such as PDF's or any other file type - for these it allows a link on the forum which takes you to a download page - sweet.

Lol, I saw you could win some money with the name of the fountain. So I went brainstorming asking people bout what the thought would be a good name. Than when I finally found a good name I went to the Emaar website again and saw that the contest was closed.

No Imageshack does not allow full size pics even using the method you just gave....

I just tried it with a 4000 by 3000 - 2.79 meg pic. It resized it drastically.

Imageshack is:
- very slow
- does not allow the full size of giant pics to be thumbed or linked
- does not allow info files to be linked

As I posted before Imagehost looks to be the best one out there currently.

Back OT.

Nice work Malec.

The contest for the Dubai fountain name was only for habitants of Dubai.

Great skyline image Malec. You can recongize a dozen buildings right away, given their unique design.

Can't wait 'till the current proposals are built. I'll definitely fly over there, if the world hasn't ended by then.
