Actually that is not true.

It was originally publicised as being the world's largest, but that is not what it turned out to be. The South China Mall is still the largest.

Hi all,

here you'll find two pictures showing the view of "Old Dubai" from the Wild Wadi Waterpark taken yesterday (standing in Line for the Jumeirah Sceirah Slide).
It is quite distant (sorry, no close-up from the upper part of the Burj) and the air is full of sand (as usual). Nevertheless I always find it amazing to see, how far Burj Dubai sticks out among the other towers.

It's my first time linking pics so I hope it works out...

Hey guys, just posted a short video on youtube. A little old(August) but gives you an idea of the surrounding area around the Burj.

Excellent shots! The angle and lighting of this one clearly show that the spire extends down to the level just above the cladding. Too bad the cladding is there so we can't tell if the spire goes even lower. Does anyone know for sure whether it does go lower, and if so, to which level? I imagine it could be as far as the top of the concrete structure, but probably no further down.

It has been shown earlier up to which level. If I well remember (funny I was one of the 2 guys posted them) it was somewhere near 620 meters.

UAE also found its crucial resources in the past few decades, including large quantity of notes and coins buried underground for millions of years.

It is called 'Dubai Mall' and that fountain in Dubai is also called 'Dubai fountain'.

Dubai spends time on giving out so much money to find such 'breathtaking names' like ones above.

BTW the mall open 2pm tomorrow.

Ah, Fury's post (#11130 way back on page #557) answers my question. (I just needed to dig a little further.) So unless I've overlooked a more recent update, the answer is we don't know yet how far down the spire extends at the moment. Here's to hoping that jacking will commence soon.
