Is it still the case that we don't know if the whole pipe is in there? From tThye's photo we can see much of the pipe (blue), and if I understand correctly, the red indicates where the rest could be if there is going to be only one staged lift. Sorry if I've overlooked newer information. I got a few weeks behind on reading posts. It would be cool if there was some kind of frequently updated FAQ page for each thread.

no, this diagram is incorrect. the "pinnacle" not pipe starts at about the last crane tower connection strut.

Can someone update my diagram to make accurate? I'm trying to indicate where the thing (pinnacle, pipe, spire, whatever) is (or range of "could be") located currently (as in now, in the present), before any jacking begins. I think some folks are indicating where it will be after jacking, or else I'm even more confused.

no one knows for sure where the spire is inside the steel at the moment. It could be as far down as the top of the concrete or it cud be higher. No one knows for sure.

The Dubai Mall is the SECOND giant mall in Dubai?!

No wait! There is a THIRD even bigger mall in Dubailand called Mall of Arabia being developed.

Didn't any of these Mall developers get an agreement from the city planners to limit capacity as a condition of investing like developers do elsewhere on the planet?

Can anyone say "cannibilization"?

I've got a new slogan for the city planners: Dubai - where more is not enough.

Thanks. That is what I thought. So my diagram is accurate in that the blue lines represent where we can actually see the spire from the angle of tThye's photo? ...and the red lines show how far down it could be?

It's amazing to me that the lifting equipment is powerful enough to lift that much weight. Even if it's not all there currently, at some point the jacking equipment will have to bear all that weight.

The BD will be like fireworks night, ever night.

Strobes on each tier level plus spotlights, in addition to moving spotlights lighting up the BD from the ground.

Testing out for topping out I would guess.

It was supposed to open last thursday so I was disappointed not to be able to se it.

Another huge sign outside the mall said the aquarium was open, but it was impossible to get in.
