You know, CULWULLA, some day you gotta do a timelapse gif animation out of your various Burj Dubai diagrams.

if you look at this picture and just use ur fingers to measure the entire length of the spire, put it at the base it rises to pretty much where it is now.

Or if you wanna do the maths. 819-682 = 137...... 586m +137m = 723m

So chances are, IF the spire is fully intact its around the top of the concrete and just needs to be jacked up fully.

Interesting article. (I don't recall seeing it before.)

Just think, if the pinnacle is intact already, then they are going to have to lift a 144m tall object (according to Culwulla's diagram) nearly 90 meters straight up! Anyone want to guess how much weight that is? Or how fast it will move? Perhaps only centimeters per hour...

They should shoot a movie action scene up there during the process. James Bond would be good.

Hi all.

Wow they are erecting the one wing of tier 23 now - cool. As I have posted before because the second wing of tier 22 faces the crane, even one more section will prevent the crane from being able to slew 360 degrees. Now being able to rotate 360 is not mandatory it probably is easier to keep that ability for now.

Cul I estimated the pinnacle at 730m. last week but 727 is close enough. I don't think the pinnacle and pinnacle pipe up there right now is only 33m. though.

Guys as I posted many pages ago (Swiddle quoted it a page ago) if the entire pipe is up there and the 730m. estimate is correct the base of the pinnacle pipe is just 2m. above the concrete. The pinnacle and pinnacle pipe is 143m. long altogether. As we have no way of knowing if it is all up there, the plan to do one staged lift or 2 staged lifts is open for debate. But some pics do show a bunch of it is up there.

Either way the lifting equipment is at 692 with lines hanging all the way down to the bottom of whatever amount of the pinnacle pipe that is up there.

I am still hanging on to the idea of the top platform being erected on top of the tier 30 pinnacle we see sticking out right now before the jacking begins.

Obviously plans have changed some with the erection of tier 23 before jacking so it is all conjecture at this point.

Nice, but so much was unfinished that I would have to come back later. The biggest positive surprise was the beaches. No one had told me that there were nice beaches in Dubail.

Well, I saw a few other malls, but what I hoped was to get better views of the burj with the new mall just under it.

I though the jacking up equipment was setup on the top of concrete structure, but I'm wrong.

The burj was clearly visible at night, but even with a rigid camera support getting a good picture was not easy.

Nice pictures, but not for this thread. And definitely not two posts!

Maybe the last one, but even that is blurry.
