Just curious but can you see Burj Dubai from your room or what? Seems like you can see BD by just looking out of your window.

It has been said a number of times earlier, even yesterday the forumer Fury pointed that out again.

However if you look very carefully on the last pic of the post above yours, you can get an idea why they stopped for the moment there.

Spire Insert Depth

A few posts back there was speculation that the spire may be inserted down to the concrete level as shown in the video.

Using the good illumination tonight it is clear that the aluminium flooring/roofing does not have any access for the spire to pass through and is not visible in any of the illuminated floors.

Yup, the first steel floors had no holes in the middle, we started seeing them later on. So in short: the spire can't go down to the top of the concrete section.

How much did it cost for them to build the Burj Dubai, I'm sorry it sounds like a stupid question. But I'm just really curious that's all

ive been carefully monitoring the construction ofthe steel frame and there has ben no centre hole for the pinnacle as far as i can see. i think tier20b is where the holes start to appear which makes sense.

Thanks "JC_Zwolle", but follow The Saigon Times, the building' height will taller than 819m, maybe >900m.

It's a miracle how low construction costs can be when unions and politicians are not involved. Comparing it to the new WTC buildings in New York may not be a fair comparison because people would argue about the complexity of the site but you can compare it to the Chicago Spire and see that the construction costs are considerably less to build in Dubai! If they had the same problems with the unions, politicians and government regulations as we do in the USA I'm sure the cost would be well over $2 billion or more.

Looking at the other way imagine what we could build here if we had the same construction costs as Dubai!

$800m is wrong, that's only for the concrete structure. You then need to add in the steel structure (spire), all the cladding, all the design work, all the interiors, etc.
