Hi Cul.

I have been saying that for many months now but that was before the top of the pinnacle was sticking up as far as it is now.

1 - Now there is room for all of the spire to be up there right now.
2 - The original jacking plan shows a void right down to the concrete.
3 - Not having to add to the bottom of what is already jacked sounds much easier.

You could very well be correct Cul and they are going to do multiple lifts. They have to lift and stop to do work up near the top steel sections anyway after each stage or lift.

I am just trying to show everyone both possibilities. I have been leaning towards a single staged lift but after the last few days of pics and discussion, I am not sure.

Whatever method they use it will be interesting to "watch".
It does seem to be taking a long time for the jacking to begin though.

Yeah one objection to the "the spire's all there already!" opinion is: have any of the local SSC-ers actually seen any sections being lifted up there?

Then again, have any of the local SSC-ers actually seen any of the existing (and clearly visible) sections being lifted up there? Was the 33m of spire that no-one denies is already there lifted in one piece from the ground? Or 'top' then 'bottom'? Or 'bottom' then 'top'? Or ... ?

Looking at your detail pic CULWULLA (quoted above) I've just noticed that between floors 174 and 181, we see 4 'double height' floors each 6m high, whereas above and below this region we have 'standard height' floors each 3m high. Very curious. This lends weight to your position I think. Or am I reading too much into the absence of 4 horizontal lines ? In any case, each section that's added to the bottom of the spire will be limited in height to either ~3m or ~6m, right?

I urge folk to check out the link Ember-To-Ashes posted (at around 5'35'')

YES. There is an observation deck on the 124th floor. Although it won't be the highest in the world but at 441 meters, good enough for most people. It will be amazing standing out there so high above ground and can still look up at another ~380 meters above your head.

Cant believe that 45km...!? Looks way too high. But when can you ever see a single structure that high.
No chance to get that into righ relations in your mind. Might only work with a mountain.

Might be 40, might be 50, it is a guess, but there was a roadsign with "Dubai - 42km" around that point. Between our position (Sharjah direction) and the Burj lays already about 10km of Dubai (including the old centre) so it must be more than 42km I assume.

EDIT: The Burj Dubai lake Hotel, looks from this angle like a totally different building.

Not neccessarily, the roads do not go in a straight line.
