Lighting Up On Top

When this puppy is finished the overall effect with the lighting is going to be just spectacular. I wonder what they are going to do up on top....maybe a giant mombo light cannon going straight up from around the spire like at the Luxor in Las Vegas? I guess at the different lighting locations at the tier points there will be a change in the exterior cladding for the lighting instruments?

as for exterior lighting being focused on the towers facade, i think only from above 162nd floor this will be allowed.as its the uninhabitable section .no complaints from residents or office workers.ect.

I think they won't be focused on the facade? It seems to me those rays will be directed randomly up into the air. as mentioned before like hong kong. As there are no other high-rises nearby it won't be a problem for other buildings either.

If there had to be a new list of the seven wonders of the world I would put this and the palm island on it instead of some retarded jesus statue and macchu pichu.

Hi all.

The festive lighting plan is quite extensive. Over 1,000 lights with a controller running through ethernet - over 200 pre-programmed shows - costing over 7 million dirhams.

Here is a 15 page PDF with all the info - another reason I like Imagehost - any file type, not just images - up to 100 MB.

burj-dubai-festive-lighting-plan.pdf (697 KB)

Great shots over the last few days guys. For us that are not in Dubai (or are on the other side of the globe) your updates make us feel like we are there - Thank you.

Now lets get to some jacking.

While incredibly impressive, they are no Machu Picchu. That site is a vital part of a long gone civilisation and worthy of New World Wonder status.

Both are actually quite majestic. I do agree though that the Palm Islands be designated wonders of the world.

Doesn't `Wonders of the World` mean something that was created or built before recorded history? A mystery surrounds it because mankind does not exactly know how it was created.
But In the Palm Islands, Burj Dubai or Nakheel Tower or any of the Dubai great projects have been created with recorded detail. There is no mystery about it!

Exactly...Burj Dubai, or palm or something like that can be accepted in "Modern wonders of the World" like Golen Gate bridge, Empire State Building, Eiffel's Tower, etc...

No chance to get that into righ relations in your mind. Might only work with a mountain.
In just the zoom fellas,of course it doesn't look that big from that distance.
