I think first the last steel sections will completed. After that the spire jacking starts. If they start the jacking now it is impossible to use the crane for the steel levels. Thats the reason we can't see jacking

I uploaded this video, it has hungarian dub. They built it with 51.679 dominos. You can see Burj Dubai and some other skyscrapers. Hope you like it!

a great tribute to his local son, Imre Solt.

great update OTR, I think they start the last floor of tier 23 tomorrow or very soon.
I think the crane will be limited in angle movement by the spire jacking and more limited movement when they need to complete the rest of tier 22.

Let's play a game. Who will count the cranes?

With a little edit, Dubai "Cloud City"...

I don't know yet, I sort of agree but I have to disagree because the environment hasn't been created yet. Keep in mind, there is a fountain and the potential once the construction is complete. It could be an amazing place and space once everything is settled down. That's sorta what I'm looking forward too. I do agree about the car thing. If they make this a space where people are eluded into walking instead of driving, then it will be amazing, but that's at mercy of how good the designers are. It could be totally shot and it will end up a driving place...and sadly, a mall could ruin the walking part. I think a narrow street of shops on both ends would have been far more appropriate than a mall.

The area will follow its intended development design, you have to give it some time, they are building a city after all. Even if it ends up looking half as good as the renders it will still be a sight to see.

Somebody remind me, are those current top 4 steel floors constructed to their half width or is that their full width?

I agree it will be without a doubt an amazing site, but I think the idea of space is what's in question. Will there be people walking around, sitting outside from outdoor cafes, shopping, etc. Or will people just drive right past it. It's kind of like Los Angeles vs San Francisco. People are out and about in San Fran because driving is a complete inconvenience, so they are eluded into walking and being out and about in the city. LA is geared to driving, so you only pass by everything. Only time will tell how the environment is shaped around Burj Dubai, but hopefully it will atmosphere, that's why this mall concerns me.
