Man, this project keeps going up and up! As for the climate thing, I give two or three decades before they build a giant dome over the whole city that regulates the temperature so it's a pleasant Mediterranean climate.

Hi all.

On the left it looks like catch panels for anything accidentally falling - tools, bolts, etc. There is some facing us in the shot also.
On the right is a window washing unit.

Nice shots desert.

Wow, I haven't checked in here forever. It really looks like the Burj Dubai now, and not a stump! Fantastic! When are we projecting the spire will be raised?

Jelous people make me yawn ... sheesh ! Dubai must really be doing something amazing to get on the nerves of people who "claim" to live in certain cities. anywho

I read this article i cant seem to find , it was either here or in the Dubai mall thread , something about taking people high enough to see the BD ! 400+ meters up , any more details revealed about that ?

"A movie produced for presentation at the Burj Tower installation at the Salon di Mobile housed in Armani Teatro, Milan.
The key message is pre-eminence and legendary, focusing on the tower and the technical beauty of its design."

I would not condemn either because they fit into the urban landscape. Burj is set back nearly a quarter of a mile!

Installing Upper Cladding?

From what is being written here it sounds like the upper crane will have some limited access and mobility as the top tiers are assembled.

How is the cladding going to be installed up at the very top tiers below the pinnacle and spire and will the crane be able to hang material on the opposite side of the crane tower once jacking is completed?

Good question.
I was thinking about it, but I think the top tiers which the crane cannot reach will have the cladding already installed on it when the crane attaches them to the spire (so before jacking).
At tier 24 (which is the only tier that contains units on all sides of the spire) my first thought is that they have to fix a unit with an extended arm at the crane or something, to get behind the spire.
