it looks like it.
you can see where the two tiers meet and it widens

:EDIT:
never mind, that was just a shadow making it appear to be widening

You can see the spire go down in the third picture until the blue machine.

Edit - I zoomed in on the first pic and that might show the spire also disappearing behind the glazing!

Ooh, the spire is being lifted into place! I almost have as much anticipation for this as I do a new episode of House! Great pictures, also.

888 would be possible but they could only do it be exntending the spire another 70m which may look abit out of proportion. I'm all for a spire increase upto say 50m because as spires go on skyscrapers, the Burj Dubai's (visible spire) is fairly short.

Looking at this picture we can see the Spire go down 64meters into the structure confirmed. theres an extra floor where we cant see if the spire is there or not but that would make it maximum of 70m. if they jacked ALL of that up it still wouldnt meet the 819m target. It would be about 800m. So i'm not sure quite wats going on.

Wow, looking at this pic, wouldn't it be awesome if they lit up the top several tiers and pinnacle when completed? Like they do on Sears, Petronas, ESB...

But, the new Green Building Regulations in Dubai is probably going to prohibit upward exterior lighting

Amazing picture. The BD raises up from the smoke or dust. They will have a good ventilation and a better weather (specially on summer )

This building is incredible. The first of an new king of buildings: Hipertall. Is much more bigger than other; more than the step done on 20 Century´30s with the Empire State compare to the rest of the towers. (>40% bigger...!!)

We are seeing a new era.

Yeah, it's clearly been photoshopped. The apartment towers around the base of the Burj, in real life, are small in comparison, but no where near as small as what we see in that pic.

I think it's not fake, just HDR'd. That makes it look a little surreal.
