Wait. I think it's not fake at all. Look at the comparison with the Address.

I actually thought the second pic looked dodgier - the tower looks complete! But I'm possibly just confusing the spire with the crane boom...

It would be about 800m. So i'm not sure quite wats going on.

so is it confirmed that its the spire going down the centre of frame?
if so its gone down alot further then it supposed to be.the base is tier20B.
if spireis down frame its total length supposed to 144m if the spire is to reach 819m.im confused

Though I figured the first shot of recent discussion was real without issue I can understand how some are saying it's fake. The follow-up shots do show the awesome relation though and so I think there is no issue with it any longer. There is a little camera-shake and a tad of a slow exposure creating the radiance in the photo. Doesn't look like HDR to me at all. Just a normal delayed photo shot from obviously the upper floors of a project nearby.

That aside - WONDERFUL shot

Also, great spire discussions - keep it up!

I friend of mine works for Emaar. He said that there's only 3 people who know the final height. So 819M could be a low guess.

Here's hoping for 900M!!

People, take into consideration the architectural design of the building! Making the spire too tall will result in spoiling the analogies of the architect's plans. Its already getting pretty thin up there, adding 90 more meters to reach the 819m target and its an aesthetic limit, if you ask me

As far as I know sarcasm is a sign of intelligence...
But maybe he is disappointed because Sarah Palin wasn't elected as Vice President!
He better need to justify the reasons for which she is a LOOSER!!

I'm confused too (again). The mystery grows. But it adds to the suspense and makes things more interesting, at least to me.

it wont be much higher then 800m. no way it will be anywhere near 900m. the spire will look too tall and out of proportion.
adrian smith likes proportions.

Well here is my guess.
The spire is of "telescopic" nature and design right? So....couldn't some parts of the spire be "inside" other larger diameter segments? and as they jack it up they weld it together. Just a theory but it would make sense. Sort of the way a telescoping antenna on a car or radio can be either really long or really short...anybody else think this might be the case? Or am i looking like complete fool here.
Cheers,
Steve

youre partially right
after this wing is completed, the next three tiers will have much smaller wings.
fury explained i think a few pages back, that these three wings will be welded to the pinnacle as it is jacked
i think thats gonna make the process even more interesting than it already is!

Hi all.

I don't think it will telescope.

I think the bottom of the pinnacle pipe up there right now is far below section 20B. The base will end up at 20B when it is pulled up by the jacks. The jacks act on long cables that extend down to the bottom of how ever much pinnacle pipe is up there right now. There is room for all of the pipe but whether it is all up there is anyones guess.

On another note - how about a vid of the base jump from the Burj ???

- Downfallen - is this you ?
