What are you kidding, by this time next year Nakheel tower foundation will start to take shape. Almost a dozen more 500m-600m towers will be in (above ground)visible construction, not to mention that the rest of the world is not sleeping there are numerous project to keep any skyscraper enthusiast on his toes. Look at China, Russia, NY and on and on…

Nevertheless, I have to acknowledge the simple fact that we will not see the Burj's title of the world tallest be beaten at least in the next 7 years.

Hi all.

Great updates guys.

Dennis's 3rd shot above shows the large temporary platform on top of the North wing. It has been there for at least a week and gives access to 2 sides of the pinnacle and/or the wings that will be attached between jacking stages. It is much larger than any other temp. platform that has been put up before. It must be where a major part of the work will be done during jacking.

It is pactically dancin' nanner floor size ...

A little over confident considering world wide consumer confidence is at an all time low and projects are being placed on hold or cancelled outright left, right, and center. Dubai, China, Russia, NY are in the thick of it.

Spire?

Nice pic Dennis. This might be the shot we've been looking for. It appears to show the bottom of the spire near the top concrete level behing the cladding.

hmmm, I don't see what you're seeing. You mean you can see the spire through the cladding? you must have super vision.

367bn in investments for infrastructure is a good thing. Does this include the Dubai skyscrapers also? Or will this go to sewer, road, highway, airport, rail etc... only? I know this angers the Dubai enthusiasts on this thread (me included) but Dubai is not immune to the financial crisis of 2008. Tourism and regional investments from petro dollars will be effected (oil is down $90.00 and falling fast). Don't be surprised if some of these 500-600m towers are put on hold --- not the end of the world.

The hope that I refer to is that retail sales for the "busiest shopping day" in the United States --- called "black Friday" (the day after our Thanksgiving Holiday) has been very strong and 3% higher than last year. The stock market in New York experienced gains not seen in 75 years . The incoming President Obama is already inspiring confidence instead of the fear of our current leader. The US Government has pledged a staggering 8.5 trillion dollars to fight the financial crisis in a similar fashion to a "win at all costs war". This is good for Dubai and the worldwide economy. Now if they can go after the hooligans that caused this crisis would be a good thing (I hope they do).

Burg Dubai looks fabulous! That whole area around it is going to be incredible when complete.

I didn't say that I could "see" it behind the cladding, did I. When I asked Fury how far down the spire extended to. He stated that it should reach down to just above the concrete level. I only claimed the pic "appears" to validate that theory.

I don't understand you ht-freak/. How does the pic appear to validate that theory then? explain what you see in the picture then, because i don't see it.
