Yes u can, all u have to do is to make a booking in one of the restaurants, skyview bar is the sticking out part of Burj Al Arab so you can have a good view there. And on every new years eve the fireworks are fired right from the sea on both sides of Burj Al Arab

Yes, but maybe seven or eight months to late to make a booking on the 27th floor for that night.

I think just later otherwise everyone will know the final height.

Latest handover date from the Emaar is Dec 2009 , workers still say just in 2010..

But don't forget to visit Dubai Marina (I recommend having a walk at the Marina itself and a walk at "The Walk", maybe enjoy the luxurious buffet at the Grosvenor House [240AED],...), Madinat Jumeirah (next to Burj Al Arab, nice atmosphere), The Souk area by the Creek (I like "Al Wakeel Restaurant" on Bur Dubai Side alot, they have a terrace built on the water), have a look at Ski Dubai through the windows of Mall of the Emirates, have a drink at Barasti Bar (at the beach of Mina Seyahi Hotel)...

...well actually just drive around town and you will see amazing things left and right Have a great trip
Going to Dubai to ski? Well, I'm not trying to be insulting or anything but I am not sure if I am going to do that. I would rather go to Whistler-Blackcomb or Jackson Hole to ski. Besides, there is no Double Black Diamond in Ski Dubai. That means it's not that thrilling at all. However, I am still amae that they made a ski resort in the middle of the desert. That is really good for the locals.

P.S.
That's just my opinion.

Going Back to the Topic.

Can't believe this structure is way too tall. I wonder how it really looks like in front of your very eyes. I am sure everyone will be captivated and it must be taking your breath away when you see it.

Definately, I live in Manchester and the Beetham Tower there (169m including blade at top) still dazzles me and this is already about 5 times the height!!! Must be unbelievable to see with bare eyes as you said. Bet your ears will pop in the lift :-) lol.

Well, you don't neccesarily have to book at skyview, book in a different restaurant like majlis al bahar, then go up for drinks. I did it last december and got up there the same day I called for a booking

as for NYE i'm not sure, but he was asking in general not specially for that night

I did not say "go skiing", I said "...look at Ski Dubai through the windows of Mall of the Emirates..."

Anyway, I've been snowboarding there and it really is a lot of fun. For people who live in Dubai its just something different to do

Just came back from driving around town taking some pictures. Will be online in half an hour.

Excellent, high quality shots DesertDiver! I think others might have asked but what kind of camera / lenses are you using?

Nevermind, camera is listed in the EXIF data.

Amazing shots!

Here you go

Not sure if the width is entirely accurate but I think the height's pretty close. Just eyeballed it and didn't go pixel by pixel. I had the opportunity once to visit the 83rd floor of Petronas Tower I - I think this is how it'd compare to the BD.

Shocking!!
