The first pic that Imre posted is fantastic... such a huge, but still nice contrast between the red roof on the small house and the huge BD in the background...both are beautiful in their own ways...

BTW I find it interesting that they have red roofs on single-family houses in Dubai, I always thought that white flat roofs are predominant there, like in most arid regions.

ive been told there will be a major rise before xmas. ;-)

london21- thanks for post. yeah i could of told anyone that burj dubai will be tallest for a while now. i think it deserves it time in the light.
going from 509m to 819m is a massive jump for WTB, something similar to ESB. its an iconic landmark now.

It looks like it's getting closer to being topped out, how long until it's topped out?

It is not topped out yet, few meters of the spire left to that...

More pics from today -

Firstly, from Arabian Ranches. Provides a nice sense of scale

Someone's happy!

Another from my favourite spot - earlier in the day than yesterday, so capturing the sun reflecting off the building:

Thats a good thing, I live in a land where the sun is very unknown about.

I think these rain and cloudy weather in Dubai once in a while should be exciting for people of Dubai. Init?
