As I'm lucky enough to be stopping over here in Dubai, here's some almost-up-to-date Burj shots I took last night and yesterday (Friday).....

Nice pictures on this page!! Great job!

So, just to confirm this, is the BD still at 740 meters?

@defecR:

Those are wonderful pics that you took!

Esp. this one is fantastic, on it BD looks gigantic, the towers next to it just look ridiculously small: http://users.bigpond.net.au/defec8r/IMG_5747.jpg

Dubai really is a place which already is in another (ca. 22nd) century!

Random Question: Why are there tops on some cranes but not on others?

Hi all.

There is 2 guide rollers for the jacking proceedure.
#1 is at section 18A and will be moved up to section 21 between one of the jacking stages.
#2 is at section 19B and will be moved up to section 22 between stages.

The crane is as high as it is going to go as I figured a couple of months ago.
The 2 sections left to be put up on one of the tier 22 wings will be done after jacking. Tier 23 has all 3 sections of its one larger wing up now.
The tiny wings of tier 24, 25, and 26 will be added to the pinnacle pipe between jacking stages and jacked with the pipe.

The cladding of some of the wings that are at the top right now is to be done before jacking.

I still think the top platform needs to be finished before jacking too.

I don't think jacking will start this year. Hopefully in Jan '09 and top out in March.

The new completion date of Dec. 20 '09 seems to reflect the top out date. As has been posted - '09 completion may be unrealistic.

inhabitable floors ended nearly 100meters ago. This building is going to have 200m of unused height at the top!

You've never seen a high mast lighting structure before?

Anyway, I wonder what this shot looks like in real life. My imagination thinks that Burj Dubai is maybe 1500 feet tall while the others are sitting around 500ft. My mind is probably playing tricks on me never seeing a building this tall in real life.

It's the slender design. It is hard to capture the height. I still like it regardless lol.
