The silhouette of the burj is already one of the simplest and recognizable icons in skyscraper history. Eiffel Tower is just a steel mesh, WTC was just 2 squre planned with boring white striped cladding, Sears Tower is just some bland black glass boxes came together, Frank Lloyd Wright's amazing Falling Water house is just a combination of boring concrete boxes... But the holy Pentominium is interesting yes it's shape is interesting but this is NOT sculpture, this is architecture, and the shape of pentominium doesn't make that much sense to me as the burj does. as does all the other greatest structures. and that is not measured by height or how crazy the shape is

Google Earth itself shows "May 1, 2006" (down where it shows lat/lon, elev, and Eye alt). Obviously, that date is wrong. Perhaps it's the date of the image that was there previously? It also shows "Image (c) 2009 DigitalGlobe". So maybe it's a picture from the future?

Hard to tell from the resolution, but it looks like two cranes on top with the third one on the lower tier. There is quite a lot of cladding in place. Mid 2008 sounds right to me.

Hi all.

Jacking - YES !!!

Great shots OTR, Dennis, and Desert.

I wonder how far this first stage will go as they will stop to add fins on the new pinnacle area sticking out. I'm thinking they could jack 30m. or so if they use all the steel sections of tier 22 and 23 to work off of - that would mean tiers 27 to 29 could have the fins put on. (tier 30 has all its fins now) If they are just going to work off the large temp. platform at section 22 they may only jack 1 tier at a time.

I guess the top platform must be complete with no handrail.

It begins ...
