So, it looks like the top of the pinnacle is gonna be that way: no monorail under aircraft lighting. too bad they look so "temporary"

So, no top platform installation before jacking process.
I still believe, that they will install it at the end by helicopter, as I posted before, perhaps on New Years Eve.

I heard the crane driver has a cricked neck as for the first time in the project he has something to look up at.

looks like they wont install the ring platform at top. i dont care either way. its only a spire top. wont see it from grd level.
ive also scaled a top flute and worked out the aircraft beacon extend extactly 1m above rim, so height will still be 819m.the lights are permanent fixture to spire so they will be included in height.

[QUOTE BTW, in between your two updates they extended the spire an additional 10 meters, so Burj Dubi 780 meters tall, here we come.[/QUOTE]

Just to give an indication of the jacking rate.

first pic taken at 13.10 hours from DIFC district

Second pic taken at 13.17 from SZR area

7 minutes for around 10m jacking height, thats pretty fast

Culwulla, there are still two bolt holes in my pic at the spire top area for some sort of fixture maybe the platform?

Also would the platform not be used to illuminate the spire from that level around the full diameter, although I appreciate that the lights can be placed at tier level.

What exactly is the point of having so many floors at just 1.2 metres wide?

the top 9 'floors" are only landings within the pinnacle.
the highest floor you can get to by internal ladder (not inc pinnacle) is lev198/tier23/739m. height we are at now. it will be 8.4m wide.as wide as a large bedr00m.
but remember, the top 40 floors -above lev162 - are for spire maintenance access for workman.-aircraft beacon lights ect.

Good work OTR, observing BD all day

I heard during my visit that the holes are for lighting/ firework as required by Emaar. Don't think for this new years eve but for the opening or maybe even next new years eve.. We'll see. Good idea btw, use a platform at the top to illuminate the spire from top down! Would look cool I think!

Getting my camera ready for today's trip back from the site (my last day!!)..

ive always gone by this, we are at 179 levels atm. just because its 2 flights of stairs to get to the next level doesnt count as 2, it counts as 1. so im not sure who's worked it out as 205 or sumthing, i count total 182 floors Total, after the 3 x 9m floors will be added.

If it wasnt for the two bastard tall buildings in the pic, just think of the BD view I would have from my office and would see exactly what was going on now.

Oh well! heading for Old Town where if any increase in spire height I will post an update.

If the can immediately jack it up to where tier 26 could júst be attached by the crane, so all the fins above are already welded (which could be because we couldn't see anything of it), they could jack it up until the top reaches 790 meters!

OTR: still in town until friday, so I guess I will contribute some more pics!

That really sucks. But still, you've got a nice view from your office! Can't keep up even close with that here at our offices in Gold and Diamond Park

The spire looks so cool!!!

between each 6.4m segment are landings which are 3.2m height dif.
thus the reference to floors.

The landings are just walkways to the next flight of stairs, they dont lead to a floor. hence why i dont count it as a floor. Every tall building ive been in has 2 sets of stairs for each floor. and They dont count it as a floor. so why should we?

Yes, it sounds or looks better to say over 200 floors, but there are not really. lol
