also xX60Xx i am pretty sure that you can just see the top of the spire, but it would be more likely that you would see it at night with the aircraft beacons on at night and during the day the glare of the sun would probably be too bright to see it.

You should be able to see the pinnacle. Just draw a line from observation deck to the pinnacle on your diagram, you'll see there is nothing to obstruct the view...

I made a quick sketch just to illustrate how it might look from observation deck, I didn't care about the accuracy of the tiers and wings, as I said, a quick sketch to illustrate the view:

Hi,

cool animated gif of the lightening striking Burj Dubai! Here's the "big" version of it:

...your wish is my command All the following pictures are from today.

From the crescent of Palm Jumeirah:

As you can see, the spire is only visible from a closer distance. When I drove to work this morning I thought they lowered the spire again Even from as close as Nad Al Sheba it is quite hard to see (not to mention the "strakes" )

Cheers desert river, the spire well visible from distance. There's two blue things (to do with jacking) on the lower steel floors now.

yeah, just like Imre's.

The crane worker can be relieved now, the lightning will now hit the tip of the spire which is quite far away from the crane cabin itself.

I need new glasses, it seems No honestly, it's hard to see! At least from a distance as far as Mall of the Emirates. I was in my car this morning. But looking at Culwulla's diagramm I am relieved, since the base of the spire will be thicker appearently

The only two blue things I see are a plastic sheet and the crane. Nothing with jacking...

But if you look clearly at the close-up (btw thanks Desert Diver!) you can see the end of the spire hanging between to floors!!!

Cheers

The spire looks so thin when you look at the building as a whole.. i wish they would have made it abit thicker. meybe kept the 2m diamter all the way up insted of decreasing to 1.2m

Nice day today. Will be uploading a few photo's.

To start with...

(The problem with using a polarizing filter to cut reflections in the window you're shooting through, is that it highlights stresses in the window you're shooting through!)

Moving outside...

Anyone fancy a job as a window cleaner?

I keep meaning to do a set of photo's of things that are as tall as the Burj Dubai. Like this palm tree

Nice clouds today -

Sun glinting off the spire...

again, great pictures, cheers gerald.

even thought the spire looks like a needle from distance, it is an enormo spire from close distance interms of its thickness. (feels like even a small movement of the spire can actually damage the steel floor structure)

this picture is just amazing, it sums up what dubai is really about.

By the way. I'm working on a special treat for you all. Not sure if it will come off though, so don't hold your breath.
