Am I the only one who thinks the very top looks awefull? They should take the pinnacle off right now and top it out at the last setback IMO.

If you do the HDR right, it looks good and people might not even know it is HDR. Remember that aerial shot from a week or so ago that every one was raving about? That was HDR too.

Photosynths of Burj Dubai.

If you're not familiar with Photosynth, it's a very, very clever tool developed by Microsoft that automatically combines multiple photographs and reconstructs the 3D space in which they were taken.

This morning, I took around 200 photos of the Burj Dubai and the area around the Old Town. These photos have now been "synthed" together. The tool managed to connect around 140 of them, which isn't bad considering it's my first "proper" attempt at doing this. Note that this means there are quite a lot of "orphaned" photos though.

To view, you'll need either IE or Firefox, and you'll need to install a small download.

I did a couple of small synths yesterday in preparation to try to get the hang of it. If you're interested, I suggest you start with one of these simple ones first, before moving onto "the monster".

You can find the synths here -

http://photosynth.net/Search.aspx?query=gerald.d

"Burj Dubai large" is 9 photos, 100% synthy - i.e. the program was able to place all 9 photos in the same "space.

"Burj Dubai GD" is 17 photo, 75% synthy. There's one group of 12 photos, and one of 5.

"Burj Dubai monster" is 206 photos, 70% synthy.

Enjoy!
Though I get the general idea of the larger ones, your one straight on of BD works excellently and the level of detail is astounding! I could only imagine if someone was from your vantage point with an even higher res Canon or Nikon camera. Even with your stitched photos though, if you zoon in a ways and check out the detail, really help you to feel as if you're there Great job! Took me quite a few minutes to slowly scroll around the large BD and check out everything from workers to HVAC pipes and all in between.

i just wonder, how many workers have die constructing this massive skyscraper?

Its so tall, that any mistake you do, it would cost you your life!is so scary to be on the top...even the wind could push you around!
