Agreed with the previous poster the entrance looks so good. I love how far the glass runs up to the antenna.

interesting to see how they have put 1 of the 9m sections (with glass) on already. they'll need to jack it up higher to put on the others.

Edit.1 nice pic OTR. they have jacked it up abit more.. approx 9m to fit another section.

Edit.2 - you would think they would have put the lower sections of the pre-glassed tiers on first, surely its going to be hard to put on another section now. the tier we're seeing has got 2 more sections to add.

So with the new height increase, are we at 777 m yet?

Personally I think it is too high already. That spire is so thin that you can't see it from ground level anyway. It is just height for height's sake. I think it would look better if they'd knock the top three sectbacks off of it and top it out a little lower, but that's just me. The top three sections are so thin and the building is so tall that it kind of looks silly IMO.

Axel, that's not the top of Burj Dubai, it's the roof of one of the smaller parts at ground level

look to the right bottom corner of this picture: http://img139.imageshack.us/img139/5...solt027by6.jpg

Edit: Whoever says the spire is not visible from the ground, is badly mistaken. I was at the open beach in Jumeira today and the spire was very very cleary visible without question. That's about 4 km away and we didn't have a crystal clear day today, Burj Al Arab was hardly visible.

Looking at that pic on the last page I feel the 819m proportion looks better. The larger one just looks a bit flimsy- a bit like a giant birthday cake candle.

Yes, I know its not the top of BD!

I only was surprised that the build a steel floor on the top of this smaller part of BD. The Base of BD looks the same like the rendering of BD in the first post of this thread http://img482.imageshack.us/img482/9...ubaicm7.th.jpg only this wing at the base becomes out of proportion with this steel floor...

Oh I misunderstood then, I was also wondering what it is, sticking out only from one corner of the building, seems weird?

My First Post

This is my first post on SkyscraperCity!

I've been watching this building grow for at least two years. I remember first seeing a render in an ad in Architectural Digest claiming it would be the most desirable residential address on earth. It's been incredible watching it come to fruition and learning a bit about how skyscrapers are actually built.

It is just incredible to see the spire rise and I can't believe how quickly they added the attached tiny floor last night! Further evidence that this thing will continue to rise and might surprise us all with it's final height. Can't wait!!!
