Wow, It's getting really tall.
I really want to go to Dubai, but maybe in a few years when more has been completed.
Thanks for that link. It was quite interesting!!

I also would love to go to Dubai, but like you, would want it to be a few years down the road.

Hi all.

Thanks for the kind words guys.

Great updates Imre.

We should be seeing the 2 wings of tier 25 in the next few days if they have them ready to go as they did with the single wing of tier 26. One wing will be right under the tier 26 wing to make a continuous wing facing 180 degrees. The other will face 60 degrees. The crane is at 120 degrees.

After that they will probably do the next jacking stage to expose the part of the pinnacle pipe that will be tier 24. This tier has 3 wings that will fully enclose the pinnacle pipe as will all the tiers below this down to tier 20 (the pinnacle pipe extends down to section 20B). This is where things will be interesting. 2 of the wings will go right under the 2 wings of tier 25 making continuous wings. The third will face 300 degrees. That will be on the opposite side of the pinnacle pipe from the crane. I wonder how they will attach it ?

I'm thinking they may expose the part of the pinnacle pipe that will be tier 23 in 2 stages adding the 2 small wings between stages. Tier 23 has 2 small wings and the one larger wing that is already erected. When both of these stages are jacked we will be topped out.

Then just the one small wing of tier 22 and the 2 sections left of the larger wing facing the crane. Tier 22 has 1 small wing and 2 larger wings (one of the larger wings and one section of the other larger wing are already erected). Then finish up connections and cladding.

After that the crane recovery plan can begin. Not near as elaborate as the jacking plan but quite a process none the less.

The rotating part is exactly where its flying, jumping, backflipping parts are located

Unrelated to a couple posts above mine, do you think they could actually rotate the entire pinnacle to allow the crane to attach the larger, lower tier? It'll be interesting to see what happens as you said when the crane starts running out of room to work.

It *sounds* simple - rotate the spire / pinnacle, place the large tier where the crane can reach, attach it, then rotate the pinnacle back to the proper position and/or continue jacking. Obviously the logistics of that alone make it risky but hey, just a thought.

They have to put cladding up, so they can lift the spire up...

Are these still real glass panels like the cladding of the rest of the building?

IMO this spire is the best designed spire since the spire of the Chrysler building. THUMBS UP for Adrian Smith...!!!!!!!!!!

The BD top was visible for miles today with the skinkle of the sun on the spire cladding.

I imagine how fantastic it will look when fully clad.
