Hi all.

Great update and info OTR.

Comparing your shot today to one of Imre's from yesterday the pinnacle is at the same height. It is high enough to attach both wings of tier 25. They must have most if not all of the small wings built and cladded down on the podium.

The next jacking stage to expose the tier 24 part of the pinnacle pipe and the attaching of the 3 wings should go fast as well - hopefully. That 3rd wing on the other side of the pipe from the crane is gonna be interesting.
Hey Real - I don't think rotating the pipe is possible with the way the lines hang down for jacking - but who knows - it is one way to attach that wing - we shall see in the next few days.

Cranium - there is an anemometer on the top platform - or there was by the plans - the platform seems to have been revised as there is no handrail or BMU monorail.

OTR - great to have confirmation of my hunch from months ago that the crane had no need to rise any higher. I think the height will still be 818 as the tiers and wings of tier 25 and 26 are exactly as in the plans. There is still a small chance tier 24 will be taller but I don't think so. There is also a small chance that some tiers are taller than the plans as we cannot see a difference of a meter or 2 for any tier but again I really don't think so.

If everything looks to be by the plans when we are topped out we may have to wait for the CTBUH official measurement in 2010 to know for sure. They should come up with 818, 819, 824, or 825. If any other number we will know the 818.0 (from the floor of the ground level to the floor of the top platform) by the plans has changed.

A very interesting time.

yeah just scaled the closeup[ photo and spire=780m.
thus 41m above tier24/steel frame. so another 40m of addtion above teir24. spire will look look good and in proportion.

Cladding on Upper Steel

OK, this is cool and all but...
once that mombo spire is jacked all the way up how are they going to hang the curtain wall cladding on the upper steel floors on the sides opposite the crane, if the crane isn't going to go any higher where it can reach above that upper steel work to lower the cladding panels?

Are they gonna schlep a small crane up there to get that taken care of?

From the way the photos look I can't see how that crane is going to be able to service that whole other side of the unclad steel work above where the concrete floors end.

If this was already discussed and posted I missed it.

Anybody?

If I were the Emaar I just increase the spire for 801 m and after keep the secret until the completion date.

They have at least a year why would tell us the final height in Jan 2009?

One shitty pointless off-topic post was enough. And it was at the end of a page.

We don't need four more shitty off-topic posts on this one. (counting mine)

Don't know if it's been posted as i don't read this thread all that often anymore but here's a interesting interview with W. Baker from SOM about BD, roughly dating from a month ago:

Well you must have a biased imagination

As far as Burj is conserned , the progess in very good and very fast, yet I feel sorry that the top out and external finish will proceed the opening of the tower by almost a year... We'll be all in deep depresssion, while we are looking for photo updates of the surronding lake...or maybe not? I can only bet we'll have more than a few wallpapers by then!
