You carry on with the thread anyway, just move it to the completed section, buildinngs change even when completed, especially this one if it suddenly had an entire windows cleaning do over! And imagine what it will look like at night with all or some of the lights on? And how lots of people will put christmas lights facing out of the windows, the entire burj dubai will be flashing all over? That will surely be worth pics and video footage. Wonder how long it will take until that French climber attempts to tackle THIS one!

Boom looks cool manoeuvring between pinnacle and steelwork

What's it doing there tho'? Both wings shown below in the diagram labeled 'Tier 26 Start' are up there already... is one of the 'Tier 25 Start' wings being hoisted/attached perhaps? Maybe there's room (on one 'side' at least) for one to be added without further jacking(?).

So this explains that I was not going mad, but cant speak for Altin
Were any pics posted of (what are now known to be) pinnacle sections being hoisted from 'earth' to 'sky'?

Fury: the podium you speak of - is this essentially at ground level, or is it some 'skydeck' partway up the tower?

Wow! Back in the Netherlands after 144 days in Dubai. Incredible time, city and things I've done and seen. Damn what is everything flat here.. And cold!

Hope everyone enjoyed the pictures I posted regularly. I'm sure, seeing some new photographers entering the forum, that we will be provided with more than enough pictures untill this beauty is finished! Again I'm dependend on them and they are the ones to keep the forum alive! Thanks for that everyone.

It *sounds* simple - rotate the spire / pinnacle, place the large tier where the crane can reach, attach it, then rotate the pinnacle back to the proper position and/or continue jacking. Obviously the logistics of that alone make it risky but hey, just a thought.
Good thought! But the spire also weights very much and as Fury said, indeed with the cables it will not be possible. I think they will attach the pieces 'behind' the spire with an extension at the crane hook that is able to reach that part.

once that mombo spire is jacked all the way up how are they going to hang the curtain wall cladding on the upper steel floors on the sides opposite the crane, if the crane isn't going to go any higher where it can reach above that upper steel work to lower the cladding panels?

Are they gonna schlep a small crane up there to get that taken care of?

From the way the photos look I can't see how that crane is going to be able to service that whole other side of the unclad steel work above where the concrete floors end.

If this was already discussed and posted I missed it.

Anybody?
Cladding is lifted by the crane to all floors, but installed without the crane, using cables from the top of a tier. So if the cladding is stored in the building, the crane is not needed anymore. I also wonder how the will clad the parts you mentioned, but they'll will do it without a crane.

Hey Fury, there is something odd.
According to the last OTR's pic, the second wing of tier 25 is located at the right of the photo, and placed clockwise regarding to the one wing of tier 26. But the diagram clearly shows that the wing of tier 25 should be located counterclockwise.

Everything seems getting built according to the drawing to me, nothing wrong... The first drawing shows the highest part of the cladding, and the next one shows both of them together with the one installed today, which is on the counter-clock side of the highest part both in drawing and in reality.

If you mean that it looks like clock-wise on that picture, you should know that plans are drawn as "top view" drawings, of course you will have the mirrored image if you are looking from down upwards

A simple case is if the building lines up with the drawings. You can see an indication of North which is normal. I'm sure if someone took a photo facing true north then it'd look the same.
