As it is now with no further increases today, but I guess from the spire diameter transition lighting we can get a feel as to how the spire will look when illuminated.

Looks great from here

wow. Milestone achieved at 800 meters. That's one small step for Superman, one giant leap for mankind. Congrats!

Mankind: pushing limits for thousands of years, and many more to come. What an achievement. One of man's greatest yet.

lol, this is to clear everything up

tier 26

tier 25

tier 24
image hosted on flickr

tier 23
image hosted on flickr

tier 22
image hosted on flickr

the wings with the thinner line drawings are balconies, so they are not part of that tier. so tier 26 has only one small wing, and so on and so forth

Hi all.

First - yes my plan and methodology was taken off of Bikes' site for reasons we will not go into - YET ................

Here is my Burj Dubai Plan and my Burj Dubai Tier Methodology in a zip file.

BD_Plan_and_Methodology.zip (1.4 MB)

Ok - nice update OTR. My Estimate for this jacking stage is ..................
800.0 Meters !!!!!!!!!

Here is my reasoning using a labelled shot from OTR.

All 3 wings of tier 24 are up as they had to be before this stage of jacking. I would have liked to have seen a shot of them placing the wing on the other side of the pinnacle pipe from the crane.

Tier 23 has the one larger wing that has been up for some time now. The one small wing is on the opposite side of the pinnacle pipe from it. It will be continuous with the wing of tiers 24 and 25 that face the same direction. There is one side (or one half) of 2 small wings that go between the larger and the small wing that I would think would be added after top out but we shall see.

So attach the top ~10m. of the one small wing, jack ~10m., attach the bottom ~10m. of the small wing, and jack to top out.

@Fury
Could you please explain that schedule a bit more? Especially the meaning of the different coloured lines? The only one i really get is the big red one. But i think one of the others must be cladding and all that other stuff!?
Hi Hightech.

All of the lines are marked although some you have to look pretty hard for the label.

One thing is after top out the spire connection and deck slab tier 22 and 23 looks to be about 5 weeks long before the crane dismantling starts.

I reckon Dubai is around 5 years away from building something that can match Everest, I guess we can settle for something same height as K2?

Burj Dubai will do for now!

Do we all still reckon they can top it out for NYE? for fireworks and light show?
It really doesn't need to go higher than this. I think the Burj Dubai is now the technological limit of what is possible to build. Maybe it could have been 50 metres taller, but no 500 metres or more.

It will be officially measured in several different ways and then placed into the record books under a lot of new records.

highest floor
tallest building
tallest man made structure
highest inhabitable floor

im sure there are construction records on there as well.

cement use, steel, glass, cost of construction.

This structure will hold the title for hopefully 10-15 years.

It is an amazing achievement and something everyone can be proud of, its another step forward for mankind and it shows what we can all achieve when we put our minds to it and do something that is good. instead of all the negativity around us.
